INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION AND POVERTY RELIEF
TRUSTEES REPORT
Mission statement
Help to create a healthy, educated, prosperous and self-sustaining society
Aims and objectives
(1) To advance the education of persons in need, including orphans, anywhere in the world by the provision of financial aid and materials including but not limited to books, furniture, stationary, clothing and electronic hardware/software and also though the construction of schools, colleges, training centres and universities as the trustees in their discretion think fit.
(2) The relief of poverty and sickness anywhere in the world, and in particular, those affected by natural causes or by wars and conflicts either foreign or domestic by the provision of financial or other assistance including but not limited to medicines, shelter, furniture stationary, food, clothing, sanitation and clean drinking water, electronic hardware/software and also the construction of hospitals and medical centres as the trustees in their discretion think fit.
How do we achieve our aims and objectives?
We provide a range of services that includes:
-
Merit based scholarship projects in Pakistan
-
Working with the Homeless in UK
-
Providing clean water in Pakistan
-
Distribution of monthly/yearly food packs in Pakistan
-
Running a free hospital in Gujrat Pakistan
Our projects
We successfully delivered number of projects in Gujrat – Pakistan. 2022 was very hectic year for the charity. The current infant mortality rate for Pakistan in 2024 is 54.657 deaths per 1000 live births, a 2.01% decline from 2023. Infant mortality is one of highest in Pakistan compared to other countries. We set up and established a Free mother and child Hospital in Gujrat offering OPD to poor and needy people. Pakistan hardly spend 2% of annual GDP on health and due to inflation and cost of living crises, accessing health services and treatment is very expensive and becoming increasingly for common man. We tried to bridge the gap and provide a service to cater for the poor and needy so they could access quality health care at near enough zero cost. We employed qualified doctors and allied healthcare staff. The hospital also has in house laboratory and pharmacy to provide one stop service for patients. The hospital opened its doors to public in September 2022. Since its inauguration, we treated over 25000 patients in its 1st year.
Water 4 Life Project – saving lives through clean water in Pakistan. Sadly, accessing the clean water is another massive problem in Pakistan where people are terribly affected by water born disease such as Hepatitis C in Pakistan. We also received the donations to build 3 new water filtration plants and saved lives, where local residents were able to get clean water for free and reduce the risk of getting sick. In addition to this, 10 water coolers were provided to various educational institutions so students could get ice cold clean water..
In Pakistan nearly over 35% of population is living below the poverty line so food security is a massive problem in Pakistan. Keeping this in mine IEPR distributes around 3- to 35 food parcels evert month. The food is distributed amongst the absolute poor families who are finding it impossible to put food on table. However, during the blessed and holy month of Ramadan around 400 to 500 families are given supply of 1 month of food supply.
Page 2
Homelessness has been on the rise in the UK as well. 1 in 74 people in Manchester are homeless. Rough sleeping in Manchester increases 26% across Manchester in a year. IEPR working with a like minded organisation ‘Organic Soul’, we provided hot meal and drinks for around 80 people twice a week every Monday and Friday in Piccadilly Gardens Manchester.
Pakistan's literacy rate is around 59%, with males at 71% and females at 48%. Pakistan spends around 2.3% of its GDP on education. Pakistan ranks 130th out of 146 countries with respect to Education for All's Development Index (EDI). Through our merit-based scholarship more than 50 students from poor background have been helped. Students who meets our eligibility criteria receive full fees, uniform and text books to complete their studies.
Pakistan Flood Relief as Pakistan suffered serious floods in 2022. IEPR setup a campaign through Just Giving to raise funds for people who were affected by these devastating floods. We managed to distribute 400 food parcels through another charity namely Al Khidmat Fundraising.
Most of our fundraising is from direct donations from family and friends. This can be regular direct debit and one-off contributions. However, we have used JustGiving to raise substantial funds to fud our projects online, as it is multimedia world so online platforms like Facebook Instagram, and TikTok has been used to promote our projects. It should be noted bulk of our Instagram, and TikTok has been used to promote our projects. It should be noted bulk of our planning to a big fundraising event in 2023.
