appreciation of, the art and science of music in all its aspects by any
means the trustees see fit, including through the presentation of public
concerts and recitals.| |---|---| ||Weekly or sometimes twice weekly live or live streamed orchestral
rehearsals, for players (of all ages and varying abilities) of instruments
used in a conventional symphony orchestra. During live rehearsals
further instruction is also given in small groups to those needing more
assistance to increase confidence and improve playing ability -
particularly in the string sections.
One concert per annum to the general public, to promote more interest
in classical and light music being played by acoustic orchestral
instruments and to encourage support for those who wish to start or re-
start playing- not achieved this year due to Covid 19

**during the year**|The following activities and achievements have been realised:
Due to Covid 19, there were no rehearsals during the Summer term, from
April til August. As restrictions were relaxed, 5 “strings only” rehearsals
were held in September, and these were live streamed for brass and
woodwind players and any other players not able to attend in person.
Heavier restrictions were then enforced so that no more live rehearsals
were possible. However, live streamed rehearsals were then sent out
twice weekly, from November to early December, with the M.D. conducting
from home and sophisticated backing tracks used. About 40 players
continued in this way, with music being posted or delivered by willing
volunteers. A virtual concert was held in this way at Christmas, with
players sending in recordings of themselves playing 1 piece, and
photographs of themselves. This enabled players to feel that they were
still playing together.
This system of live streaming was continued right through til early July,
with new packs of music being sent out in January and April.
As before, light music was chosen from all different spheres of music to
suit all tastes and to encourage players to improve their playing.
Excerpts and arrangements from classics eg Beethoven's 5th Symphony,
Mozart's Linz Symphony and Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony were
attempted with great enthusiasm.
Sadly no public concerts were given during this time, but players were
encouraged to invite their family members to play along or be an in house
