## **LS29 Special Needs Support Group** **Charity no. 1152732** **Trustees Annual Report and Accounts** **30[th] April 2024** **LS29 Special Needs Support Group** **Accounts for the year ended 30[th] April 2023** **LS29 Chairs Report May 2023-2024** ## **LS29 Special Needs Support Group Registered charity no: 1152732** LS29 aims to create inclusive local communities for families who have children with additional needs. It provides support, activities and friendship for all the family. LS29 is a group for families who have a child or young person with additional needs. It is entirely run by volunteer parents and has no staff. This means all our activities are decided on and planned by parents and children, and all funds go directly to subsidise activities. Highlights from the past year include - Facilitating regular and frequent after-school, weekend and school holiday activities. These have included swimming, farm trips, theatre, pantomime, canal boat rides, theme parks, soft play areas, Boccia and curling sessions, sensory areas, an interactive art exhibition, river picnics, a wildlife park, bowling, yoga for parents, inflatable area sessions, laser quest, sensory theatre, Christmas parties for children and teenagers, ice skating, trampolining, crazy golf, going to a football and ice hockey matches, Blackpool Illuminations and cooking for independence sessions - Running 3 residential weekends for children and young people and their families to try various inclusive activities such as riding, trap riding, climbing walls, hydrotherapy pool, adaptive cycling, abseiling, zip wires, archery, campfires and the chance to spend time with other families staying in the same centres. - Campaigning for a Changing Places Facility in Ilkley. Being part of a bid group with Bradford Council who were successfully awarded funds for 8 Changing Places facilities across Bradford. - Developing links with other groups locally to increase opportunities for children and young people including Moor Time, Exclusively Inclusive, Bradford Stronger Together, Summat Creative, Outside the Box Cafe - Further developing events to increase independence for older children such as discos, cooking, cinema trips and evenings out - Involvement in the Yorkshire Tri-Ability event. Run by the British Triathalon Association to meet the needs of children with a disability and introduce them to inclusive competing - Continuing to work with Carers Resource to run regular coffee mornings for parents and carers of children with additional needs As always, we are grateful for ongoing interest in LS29 from our local community. Their support, advice and acceptance is really appreciated. In particular, we would like to thank Ilkley Round Table, Eshton Properties, Mercer Group, Bracken Ghyll Golf Club, Ilkley Talking Newspapers, Bradford VCS Alliance ABCD Grant, 41 Club, Ilkley Rotary Club, Addingham Beer Festival, Bridge Lane COOP, Ilkley Tesco and our friends who have fundraised for us over 2023/4 including Ilkley Grammar School, Erika Wormald/BUPA, Mark Careford/Provident, Nippard family and the Ilkley Half Marathon Runners. LS29 would not exist without the parents who give their time and effort to run the charity. The trustees are without fail reliable, consistent and supportive. Thanks to all of them – Nicola Scourfield, Diane Fielding, Stacey Hanson, Jane Elliott, Tanya Young, Vicki Street. We say goodbye to Helen Collins and thank her for all her great help over a few years. And to all the other volunteer parents who have offered their help over the year. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: - examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act, - to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and - to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. ## **Basis of Independent Examiner’s Statement** My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. ## **Independent Examiner's Statement** In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: 1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements: - to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and - to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or 2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. These policies have been consistently applied to all the years presented, unless otherwise stated. ## **Statement of compliance** The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015) - (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006. ## **Basis of preparation** LS29 Special Needs Support Group meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and liabilities are initially recognized at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant accounting policy notes. ## **Going concern** The trustees consider that there are no material uncertainties about the charity's ability to continue as a going concern nor any significant areas of uncertainty that affect the carrying value of assets held by the charity. ## _**Grants receivable.**_ Grants are recognized when the charity has an entitlement to the funds and any conditions linked to the grants have been met. Where performance conditions are attached to the grant and are yet to be met, the income is recognized as a liability and included on the balance sheet as deferred income to be released. ## **Fund structure** Unrestricted income funds are general funds that are available for use at the trustees' discretion in furtherance of the objectives of the charity. Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes. All donations and grants for LS29 Time are considered to be restricted for the use within LS29 Time. **LS29 Special Needs Support Group** ## **Accounts for the year ended 30[th] April 2023** ## **2 Staff Costs** Staff costs relate solely to staff employed in Moor Time activities. On the 16[th] November 2022 all staff contracts were transferred to Moor Time. (see note 4) No employees received employee benefits (excluding employer pension costs) for the reporting period of more than £60,000. Highest paid employee received £0 (2023: £15,218) ## **3 Independent Examination Fee** The fee for independent examination of the accounts was £80 (2023: £80). ## 4. **Transfer of Funds** Moor Time was registered as a charity on 16[th] November 2022. Prior to this time all activities were undertaken within the charity LS29 Special Needs Support Group (Registered Charity 1152732). All assets and liabilities related to the Moor Time activities were transferred as at 16[th] November 2022, the Total Asset value transferred was £68,469.
