LS29 aims to create inclusive local communities for families who have children with additional needs. It provides support, activities and friendship for all the family.
Due to the overwhelming success and rapid growth of the LS29 holiday club, LS29 Time, a separate charity, Moor Time, has now been formed. This will ensure continued growth and development for the respite service. This also provides greater clarity for both charities - LS29 is for family activities and Moor Time is for respite, where children are booked into sessions run activity by staff, and families can have a break. 4 trustees of LS29 are also trustees of Moor Time ensuring cohesion and local parental involvement.
LS29 is now solely a group for families who have a child or young person with additional needs. It is entirely run by volunteer parents and has no staff. This means all our activities are decided on and planned by parents and children, and all funds go directly to subsidise activities.
Highlights from the past year include

Singing Hands – a famous (in the special needs world!) musical signing duo - performing in a local theatre with nearly 400 tickets sold

Pushing boundaries and trying different sports at Outdoor Activity Centres. Notably Edale Youth Hostel, Bendrigg and the Childrens Adventure Farm in Cheshire

Our first mini-festival for children and young people in the group. Each concert had a variety of musical performances which took place in a relaxed environment

Further developing events to increase independence for older children such as discos, cooking, cinema trips and evenings out

Involvement in the inaugural Yorkshire Tri-Ability event. Run by the British Triathalon Association to meet the needs of children with a disability and introduce them to inclusive competing

Working with Carers Resource to run regular coffee mornings for parents and carers of children with additional needs

Trying new adapted sports such as Boccia, curling, ski-ing

Continuing to organise a variety of after-school, weekend and school holiday activities. These have included swimming, farm trips, theatre, pantomime, canal boat rides, theme parks, soft play areas, rhythmic gymnastics, ski and tobogganing tasters, sensory areas, an interactive art exhibition, river picnics, a wildlife park, bowling, yoga for parents, inflatable area sessions, laser quest, sensory theatre, Christmas parties for children and adults, ice skating, trampolining, crazy golf, going to a football match, Blackpool Illuminations and cooking for independence sessions
As always, we are grateful for ongoing interest in LS29 from our local community. Their support, advice and acceptance is really appreciated. In particular, we would like to thank Ilkley Round Table, Dans Den, Mortens, 41 Club, Craven Lodge 810, Ilkley Rotary Club, CABAD, Ilkley Manor House, Addingham Beer Festival, Ilkley Carnival Committee and our friends who have fundraised for us over 2022/3 Valerie Appleton, Alice Hewitson, Shona Featherstone and all the Ilkley Half Marathon Runners.
Other organisations with local links have also been a great help including YHA, Activities for All, COOP, Tesco, Arnold Clark, Jigsaw, Provident, Moin Moin, Palatine Private Equity LLP
LS29 would not exist without the parents who give their time and effort to run the charity. The trustees are without fail reliable, consistent and extremely pleasant to work alongside! Thanks to all of them – Nicola Scourfield, Diane Fielding, Stacey Hanson, Jane Elliott, Tanya Young, Helen Collins and Vicki Street. And to all the other volunteer parents who have offered their help over the year. We all make a great team!

Financial Statements and Independent Review

Independent Examiners Statement
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:

examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of Independent Examiner’s Statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent Examiner's Statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:

to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and

to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or

1 Accounting Policies
Charity status
The charity is a charity limited by guarantee and consequently does not have share capital.
Summary of significant accounting policies and key accounting estimates
The principal accounting policies applied in the preparation of these financial statements are set out below. These policies have been consistently applied to all the years presented, unless otherwise stated.
Statement of compliance
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015) - (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006.
Basis of preparation
LS29 Special Needs Support Group meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and liabilities are initially recognized at historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise stated in the relevant accounting policy notes.
Going concern
The trustees consider that there are no material uncertainties about the charity's ability to continue as a going concern nor any significant areas of uncertainty that affect the carrying value of assets held by the charity.
Grants receivable.
Grants are recognized when the charity has an entitlement to the funds and any conditions linked to the grants have been met. Where performance conditions are attached to the grant and are yet to be met, the income is recognized as a liability and included on the balance sheet as deferred income to be released.
Fund structure
Unrestricted income funds are general funds that are available for use at the trustees' discretion in furtherance of the objectives of the charity.
Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes. All donations and grants for LS29 Time are considered to be restricted for the use within LS29 Time.

2 Staff Costs
Staff costs relate solely to staff employed in Moor Time activities. On the 16[th] November 2022 all staff contracts were transferred to Moor Time. (see note 4)
No employees received employee benefits (excluding employer pension costs) for the reporting period of more than £60,000. Highest paid employee received £10,416 (2021: £15,218)

3 Independent Examination Fee
The fee for independent examination of the accounts was £80 (2022: £80).
4. Transfer of Funds
Moor Time was registered as a charity on 16[th] November 2022. Prior to this time all activities were undertaken within the charity LS29 Special Needs Support Group (Registered Charity 1152732). All assets and liabilities related to the Moor Time activities were transferred as at 16[th] November 2022, the Total Asset value transferred was £68,469.
