Objectives and activities

Summary of the purposes of the charity set out in its governing document

Elvington Out of School Club was established in 2013 by a group of parents and play-workers in the village of Elvington to meet the demand of local parents for high quality and affordable out of school care. We are a not-for-profit charity run by a group of trustees.

Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts

Working with the support of the Childcare Strategy and Business Service of the City of York Council and York CVS and in partnership with Elvington C.E. Primary School and Elvington Under 5's, the Club was set up as a Charitable incorporated Organisation (Ref No 1152686) in May 2013. The object of the CIO is to advance the education of primary school aged children in Elvington and the surrounding area through the provision of an after school and holiday club at the Lower Derwent Sports and Social Club.

The trustees consider that they have complied with their duties to have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission.

Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.

Elvington Out of School Club continues to provide a valuable service to our local community and ensuring that, especially in the current cost of living climate, we offer affordable, quality childcare provision both after school and during school holidays. Staff continue to access training to further their childcare skills. We look forward to enhancing our partnerships with the local primary school, pre-school and surrounding nurseries, participating in regular partnership meetings and working together to further the development of the provision for our children and their families.
