Objectives and activities

Summary of the purposes of the charity set out in its governing document

Elvington Out of School Club was established in 2013 by a group of parents and play-workers in the village of Elvington to meet the demand of local parents for high quality and affordable out of school care. We are a not-for-profit charity run by a group of trustees.

Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts

Working with the support of the Childcare Strategy and Business Service of the City of York Council and York CVS and in partnership with Elvington C.E. Primary School and Elvington Under 5's, the Club was set up as a Charitable incorporated Organisation (Ref No 1152686) in May 2013. The object of the CIO is to advance the education of primary school aged children in Elvington and the surrounding area through the provision of an after school and holiday club at the Lower Derwent Sports and Social Club.

The trustees consider that they have complied with their duties to have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission.

Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.

The objective for this year was to re-build following the COVID pandemic. The year began quite quietly however number have increased steadily over the 12 months, as more and more parents return to the workplace. We anticipate that this will continue in the next year. In order to prepare for upcoming retirement a new member of staff has been appointed and some training has taken place. We have a good working relationship with OFSTEAD and continue to ensure that our provision remains Good.

Explanation of any uncertainties about the charity continuing as a going concern

Although reserves are low at the year end there are no concerns about the charity continuing as a going concern.
