Aims and Objectives
Th¢ aims and objectives of the Institut¢ ar¢ as follows:
The adl'ancement of Christianily in Wales for the benefit of the public through the
preservation of sacred and spiritually significant sites.
To educate the public in the subject of Welsh Christian heritage.
The Institute's motto 'Re.fPlLe et Pi-o.Fpiee' reflect.s its goal that in reminding and educating people of the rich
Christian history of Wales, people w'ill be inspired to look foTh&'ard to experiencing and building the
Christian heritage of the futur¢.
Evan Roberts
The great Welsh revivalist Evan Roberts, who wa5 an instrument used by God in the last nationwide revival
in Wales in I904, was the inspiration for th¢ establishment of th¢ Institute ￿..hICh bears his name. His lif¢
and work had a remarkable and global in]pact which put Wales on the centre stage of Cbristianity and gave
it a special place in the history of the Church worldwide.
Achievements and Future Plans
The Evan Roberts Institute bas enjoyed another Successful year promoting Welsh Christian heritage to
p¢opl¢ from Wales, th¢ wider United Kingdom and around the world.
The Institute facilitated the delivery of both the St David's Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast in the Welsh
Parliament's Pierhead Building and an International Receplion on the eve of the Breakfast in the Senedd.
Both events took place in the week of St Da￿.]d'S Day on the 5th and 6th of M(ifLh. More thall 20 nations
Ivere represented at the ei'ents and Welsh Government Ministers. and parliamentarians, including the
Cabinet Secretary foT Social Justice and the Llywydd ivere present. A Friends of the Institute Dinner was
also held at the St David's Hotel in Cardiff Bay on the 6th March with more than 90 guests in attendance.

The keynote Speaker at the St David'5 Parliamelltary Prayer Breakfast was His Royal Highness Prince
Seeiso B¢reng Seeiso of Lesotho. W¢ wer¢ delighted io be joined by Dr Gudrun Kugler MP, Co-chair of the
Austrian Parliament Prayer Breakfast at the International Reception. The Watoto Children's Choir from
Uganda p¢rfonrAed at both eN'ents, and th¢ National Library of Wales displayed items from their archives.
including historic We15h Bible5. A number of items were also deposited in the Library's archives by the
Institute.
In addition to thc St David's Parliamcntary Praycr Brcakfast events, thc Institutc also offcrcd an cxtcnded
programme to the leaders of other European prayer breakfasts and other international guests. Eighteen
people particpated in the progYamme which included visiis to Pisgah Chapel in Loughor, the epicentre of the
1904 Revival, and St David's Cathedral in Pembrokeshire. During th¢ programm¢ our guests learnt about
the lives of Evan Roberts and St David, and the spiritual awakenings they inspired.
Pisgah Chapel, the reversionary freehold interest of which is owned by the Institute, continues to receive
many visitors each year, including from ovcrseas. Thc Instituie continues to be ￿.]gIlant foT Other
opportunities to protect, and prevent tbe loss of, Welsh Christian heritage at risk.
The trnstees of the Institute participaled in the US National Prayer Breakfast in February 2025. The
programme of events in Washington DC afforded opportunities to Speak to delegates at a number of events
to promote awareness of Wales and its Christian heritage.
Planning for the 2026 St David's Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast events is undenvay.
Financlal Performance and Reserves Policy
The Institute covers the costs of its work through donalions and the financial support of its trnstees. It
benefits from a very low cost base and as a consequence is not required to hold large sums in reserves to be
financially rcsilicnt. Financial pcrfonnancc for thc ycar cnd¢d 31 st March 2025 was as planncd.
The trustees are grateful for the continued. prayertul and practical support of a growing network of friends
