The Evan Roberts Institute is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation which is governed in accordance with
the Insti￿te,$ constitution dated 28th June 2013. The Insti￿le,% affairs are managed by its three founding
trustees, all of whom are volunteers offering their skills, knowlege and experience to the Institute without
charge.
Aims and Objeetives
The aims and objectipes of the Institute are as follows=
The advancement of Chrislianity in Wales for the benefit of ihe public through the
preservation of sacred and spiritually significant sites.
To educaie Ihe public in ibe subjeci of Welsh Chrislian heri￿ge.
The Institutc's n]olto 'Re.spice et Prospice, rcflccts its goal that in rcn]inding and cducating pcople of the rich
Christian history of Wales, people ivill be inspired to look fotwaid to expciiencing and building the
Christian heritage of the future.
Evan Roberts
The great Welsh revivalist Evan Robcrts, who was aD instrutnent uscd by God in the last nalionwidc Tevival
in Wales in 1904, was the inspiration for the establishmcT]t of the Institute ivhich bears his name. His life
and work had d remarkable and global impact w'hich put Wdles on the centre stsge of Christianity and gave
it d special pldce in the history of the Churcb worldwide.
Achievements and Future Plans
Thc Evan Robcrts Institute has enjoyed another successful year promoting Welsh Christian hcritagc to
people from Wales, the wider United Kingdom and aTound the WOTId.
The Institute facilitated the delivery ofboih the Si David's Parliamenlary Prayer Breakfasl in the Welsh
Parliament's Pierhead Building and an International Reception on ihe eve of the Breakfast in the Senedd.
Both events took place in ihe ￿-eek of St David's Day on the 6th and 7th of March. More than 20 nations
were represented al the events and Welsh Government Ministers, and parliamenlarians, including the First
Minister and ihe Llywydd were presenl. A Friends of ihe Institute Dinner was also held at the St David's
Hotel in Cardiff Bay on the 6th March with more than 90 guests in attendance.

The keynote speaker at this yeavs Prayer Breakfast was fornier Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan
Williams. The First Minister of Wales: The Rt Hon Mark Drakeford MS, was the guest of honour at the
International Reception, where he was presented with a print of Sydney Curnow Vosper's painting 'Salern'.
The National Library of Wales displaved items from their archives during the eTrents including historic
Welsh Bibles, and a number of items were placed in their archives by the Institute.
In addition to the St David's Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast events, the Institute also offered an extended
progran]mc to thc Icadcrs of othcr Europcan praycr brcakfasts and othcr intcrnational gucsts. Eightccn
pcoplc particpalcd in thc progran]tnc M'hich incliidcd visits to Colcg Trcfcca, thc hoinc and birtliplacc of
Welsh evangelist Howel Harris. aT]d Hcreford Cathcdrnl. During these visits guests learnt about the dawn of
Welsh rei'ival n]oi'en]ent5 and their leaders, and the historical relatiollships bettveen Christianity in Wales
and England.
Pisgah Chapel, the reversionary freehold inieresi of w'hich is owned by the Insiitule, continues lo receive
many visitors each year. including from owerseas. The Insliwie continues lo be vigilanc for other
opportunities to acquire Welsh Cllrisiian heriiage ai risk.
The Chair represented the Institute al the Finnish, Nordic-Baltic. and European Prayer Breakfasts during the
year, the latter of ￿hICh was also attended by ihe Secretary. Both the Chair and the Treasurer also
participaled in the Jerusalem Prajer Breakfast in June 2023. Each of these events afforded opportunities to
promote awareness of Wales and its Christian heritage.
Links with theological colleges and universities remain strong with relationships with both the Bible
College of Wales and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David continuing to prosper. A new link with
Col¢g Trefeca was eslablished during the year.
Planning for the 2025 St David's Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast events is underway.
Financial Performance and Reserves Policy
The Institute cover5 the Costs of its WOTk through donations and the financial support of its trustees. It
bencfils frum a very low cost base and as a LonsequellLe is nut requiied tu hold large Su￿5 in reserves to be
financially rcsilicnt. Financial perfom]ancc foi the ycar endcd 31 st March 2024 delivcicd a healthy surplus
and puts the charity in a good position going for¥vard.
The trustees are grateful for the continued. prayerful and practical support of a growing network offriends
and partners of the Institute around the world.

a Basis of Accounting
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance ￿'1th the Stateynent of Recornmended
Practice: Accounting and Rcporting by Charitics (SOIiP FRS 1021 issucd by the Charity Comn]ission,
and applicable eharily law in the England and Walcs. Thc accruals basis of accounting has bccn adoptcd,
and the principal accounting policies set out below aTe applied consistently.
b Fund Accounting
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the Institute in furtherance of its charitable
objectives. RestriLied funds are subjecied lo restriciions on their expendituie imposed by ihe donor, or
contained in the terms of a grant.
c Incoming Resources
All donations are included in the financial slatements for the period in ii,hich they Th'ere receiiled. All
other income is recognised ￿,hen the Institute becomes eniitled to Ihe resources- the trustees are confident
that they will receive the resources. and ihe Monetary value can be measured ￿'1th sufficient reliability.
Most of the management and activity of the InSti￿te is undertaken by volunteers, but the value of this is
not included in the financial Statements as this voluntary contribution to the work of the Institute is
incalculdblc.
d Resources Expended and Liabilities
Re50uTces expended are recogni5ed in the period to which they are lllLu￿d and include attributable
taxes which cannot be recovered.
Liabilites are recognised as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the Institute lo
pay out resources.
Fixed Assets
Fixed assets are capilalised if ihey can be used for more than one year and cosi £500 or More. They are
valued at cost or valualion. less depreciation. A list of fixed assets is maintained in an Asset Register at
the Institute's registered office.

constitution and furthcrancc of its chatiiable objects. Access to such asscls, including their managemcnt
and preservation, is a matter for the Trustees anivor any such person(s) or organisation(s) designated
as Lusiodian(s} ol the assets by Ihe Truslees. Heritage assets may be disposed olby agreeinenl of the
Trustees provided that they consider such disposals to be in the interests of the Institute and in
accordance with its charitable objects.
2 Donations
The Institute received donations from various indii'idual donors and charitsble sources during the year.
£7,000 ot these donations were eamarked by donors for use at the St David's Parliamenlary Prayer
Evenls at ihe Welsh Parliament, and £2,5(K) for the annual Friends of the Inslitule Dinner.

3 Income from Charitable Activities
The Institute held a dinner for friends of the eharity duTing the year. The event provided an opportunity
for networking fcllow'5hip. SponsoTship and donations from guest5 Taised a total ineome of £6,003.
In addition, a programme of heritage related i'isiis in South Wales and Hereford was organised for
international supporters, donations iow'atds these raised a furtber £1,600.
4 Gift Aid
The Institute is registered with HM Revenue and Customs for claiming Gift Aid on ell￿ble donations
received.

7 International PraTrer Breakfast5
The Institute sponsored the costs of iravel and participation for Rhys ab Owen MS to attend the United
States National Prayer Breakfast in February 2024 in Washington DC. This provided the OppOr￿nity for
a Welsh parliamenlarian to participate in the event and share about Wales, Christian heritage with other
participants. The total cost was £1,068.
8 International Visitor Sponsorship
No international visitors ivere sponsored to attend events in Wales this year.
9 Tangible Assets
The Institute the freehold of Pisgah Chapel. Loughor. The property 15 an important heritage asset
givcn its association with thc rci'iNalist Evan Robcrts and thc Wclsh Rcvival of 1904-5. Thc Lnstitutc
granlcd a 50 ycai Icase on Pisgah Chapcl to Cornerstone Community Churcb in 2015. No other tangible
asseis have been or are held by the Institute.
