charity’s work has made to

benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The canteen had a book and jigsaw library
added, with Welcome Spaces Funding, and the
committee room was transformed into an
excellent meeting room with funding from the
Haswell Moor Wind Farm fund.
The range of activities offered by the hall has
really expanded.
There have been very successful community
events, including a table top sale, an Easter
Extravaganza Day, Welcome Spaces Fun Days
in school holidays, a Beacon event for the 80th
Anniversary of D-Day, the introduction of
Monthly Bark and Brew coffee mornings, a
Halloween children’s event, two amazing
Christmas events and another successful
pantomime which sold out. Also, recently
Coffee and Bingo afternoons funded by Point
North.
There are a lot of new hirers, including
flower/wreath workshops, two gentle exercise
classes, pet first aid courses, yoga and ladies
cricket training.
New volunteers have become involved with
the various events, helping out and donating
items. Durham University volunteers helped
decorate the hall for Christmas.
The post office van continues to park here and
InPost lockers have been installed.
The management committee continues to have
small numbers, and the number of trustees is
dropping, so recruitment is ongoing.
Repairs are always needed, and these are
ongoing too, with plans to tackle the damp
issues in the kitchen and men’s toilets and
perhaps look at a revamp of the main hall
during 2025.
Feedback from hall users and visitors is
extremely positive – our reputation is a
friendly, well run community space which
provides a wide range of activities for all ages.
