Background information
The Arun East University of the Third Age is a charity in its own right. It is one of m throughout the United Kingdom. The Third Age Trust is the national representative in the UK, and is based in Central London. Local U3As are affiliated to the nationa the aims and guiding principles of the national organisation. However, each is aut of its own constitution and structure.
The Arun East U3A exists for the advancement of education and, in particular, the people and those who are retired from full time work who are members of Arun Ea including associated activities conducive to learning and personal development.
Members are drawn from Rustington and its surrounding locality. It operates aroun activity groups covering a wide range of interests and pursuits.

1 Basis of accounting
These accounts have been prepared on the basis of historical cost in acc Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Financial Reporting Standard for (the FRSSE) - effective 01 January 2015, and with the Charities Act 2011

Recognition of income
These are included in the Statement of Financial Activities (SoFA) whe entitled to the resources.

These are only included in the SoFA when the U3A has unconditional them.
Liability recognition
These are recorded as soon as there is a legal obligation committing the resources.

These are depreciated on a straight line basis over the expected usef

Independent Examiner's Report To the Committee of Arun East University of the Third Age
I report on the accounts of the Arun East University of the Third Age, which are set
Respective responsibilities of committee and examiner
The charity's committee are reponsible for the preparation of the accounts. The co that an audit is not required for this year under section 154 of the Charities Act 201 independent examination is appropriate.
It is my responsibility to:

examine the accounts (under section 145 of the 2011 Act)

to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act)

to state whether particular matters have come to my attention
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by t a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes conside unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you a members concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opin given by the accounts.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respec requirements

to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 201
