At least<br>10 young people a week were in one-to-one<br>mentoring sessions.  Young people struggling<br>with self-harm, eating disorders, depression<br>and social-anxieties.  Much needed support<br>was given to the local schools as they were<br>overwhelmed with the consequences of the<br>pandemic.  Overall, it is estimated that in<br>excess of 120 young people a week were<br>supported through the various in-school<br>activities.   One Year 6 teacher says: “I have<br>seen first-hand some of the many benefits of<br>The06 Project.  The project has really helped<br>with the transition from primary school to the<br>local secondary school, Kings.  It has helped<br>pupils during their induction week at Kings and<br>as they start at the school in September.  The<br>children like seeing a familiar and friendly face<br>as they start at Kings and know they can ask for<br>support, if needed. <br>In the**COMMUNITY**during the academic<br>year 2021/22 TheO6 saw 102 different<br>young people in the Drop In.  This led a<br>second session being set up in Autumn<br>2022 on a Friday after school.  The sessions<br>are continually being used to engage with<br>young people and support them.  We are<br>finding a number of young people from<br>disadvantaged families use this time to get<br>some food they may not always get at<br>home.  One young person has been there<br>since the very beginning.  Her name is ‘R’<br>and she is in Year 10. She said that the<br>group was not 'whack'*.  “I enjoy coming<br>and socialising with my friends.  I also<br>enjoy being able to chat with ‘G’”.  The<br>other youngster is called ‘T’, he is in year 8.<br>His statement was “I love the group<br>because I don't have to go home. I enjoy<br>the cookies and drink”.<br>Also, from a Year 11 Boy: “If it wasn’t for<br>you ‘G’ I wouldn’t be here now”.<br>Part of the work in the community involved<br>a formal mentoring project XL-Mentoring.<br>We have seen three mentoring|





relationships in the last 12 months.  One mentoring relationship came to an end in July 2022 after 14-months.  All parties involved felt the relationship had been successful and that the objectives had been reached.  Two mentoring relationships remain ongoing. In the Summer of 2022 TheO6 ran a holiday club in the community.  Over fifty young people registered for the four days and over thirty young people attended each day. (from a parent): “Each summer, The06 Summer Project plans and runs a great holiday club in Ottery St Mary.  My own children have attended and thoroughly enjoyed the lively, fun and really well organised club which communicates Bible stories and teaching in a really creative way.” – The project supports young people in the local **CHURCHES** , running regular youth groups in two different churches and in Summer 2022 taking 15 young people to a local Christian Festival called Spree SW (a hugely popular camping and activity weekend for young people aged 8 to 17)
