ObJecllve5 and acflvlfles
The objeclives of Ihe Charily are Ihe proclamation and fuTlherance of Ihe Chrislian faith and
the demonslration of practical Christianily through olher charitable works. wilhin the Five
Towns area of West Yorkshire, Ihroughout the UK and overseas.
The Charily pursues its objectives by providing regular services of worship, preaching,
teaching and prayer that is open to oll members of the community, We are committed to
furthering the Christian laith by increasing the number of people who have the opportunity to
worship and be changed by hearing the gospel of Jesu5. so they may be able to live out their
faith and demonstrate works of praclical Christianity.
We maintain a church building in Castleford which. for many years, we used duiing the week
for prayer meetings, support for the elder￿ and active youth and children'5 work. The five
year agreement (executed in 20181 with a local sixth lorm college, which enables us to hold
a weekly service of worship at their premises. has come to an end. However, the college
have agreed an extension Ifree of charge) to August 2025 to compensate for the period
during Covid-19 when the college was not open.
Pastoral care and encouragemenl towards works ol praclical Christianity Is another main
elemenl ol our work. This is ochieved through experienced slafl and volunleers oflering
support in the local communily and Ihrough home-ba5ed group5 thot enable people to
support and encourage each other to mainlain a strong faith Ihat resulls in works of practical
Christianity.
Our outreach activities consist of a number of special activitie5 and events designed to make
contact with people in the local community. to provide the opportunily for them to learn
more about and consider the Christian faith. This year we have been granted funds on
mental health and wellbeing, and also working alongside the Saviour Trust. a charity working
towards ending homelessness throughout Yorkshire. We have set up a pantry provision with
Ihe assistance of Eastmoor CIC. This is not a foodbank, but a community pantry which offers
food, cleaning and personal products. This costs £5 per shop for members but the average
value of each weekly shop is £30.
When plonning our activities for the year, we have considered the Commission's guidance on
public benefit and, in particular. the specific guidance on chaiilies for the advancement of
religion. This can be seen above and in our summary of activities and achievemenls.
Achlevements and perfoimance
The core aclivities of preaching. leaching and prayer designed lo encourage and equip
members of the church to acts of seivice continued during the year. Consistency in this
respect remains a key priorily for us. These activitie5 are maintained through a core of
experienced internal staff and volunteers. supplemented with nationally recognised external
preachers and teachers.
