WELCOME TO O
AL CHARITY REP
RT
This document gives up to date information for the organisation known as Notts and Yorkshire Boxer R¢s¢u¢ (registered
charity no 1152380) or NAYBR,
Thank you for taking the time to read it.
The team have been out and about attending the Aztec Shows and Mad Hatter events, Pets At Home days and local smaller
¢vents and shows. The team have welcomed this and enjoyed going out and about with their dogs, which is what they do best!
We have also added new shows to our events calendar and enjoyed suc¢ess at thes¢ new events.
Objectlves and Activities
To all¢viat¢ the suffering and distress caused to dogs. particularly the breed known a5 boxers, which may have been
ill-treated, abandoned or in need of a new home in Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire, surrounding counties and in cases
throughout the UK.
Provide Veterinary care for all dogs in rescue including neutering and spaying and as the law chang¢d in 2016. we
now microchip all our dogs or update existing microchip details.
Promote and educate the public about the welfare. well-being and appropriate care of dogs and encourage responsible
ownership - this is one of our most important challenges. We believe education is the key to successful re-homing,
especially giv¢n the recent TV advertisements showing boxer dogs.
How we be
an and wh
we are needed - more 50 now than ever
We began as a gioup of boxer lovers who worked together to help boxers in need. Most members of NAYBR own a boxer,
hav¢ previously owned a boxer or a boxer cross and have an affinity with the breed.
W¢ b￿ame aware of a significant number of boxers or boxer crossbreeds needing re-homing. Owners wanted somewhere
trusted and safe, with the dog's interest in mind to re-home their boxer dogs. As boxer lovers and owners ourselves we
understood this desire and the requirements of the breed.
We noticed in past years more and more boxer dogs were increasingly becoming abandoned. Dogs then ended up either on the
streets as a danger to themselves and the public or in council pounds. By working with the local dog warden5 we relieve stress
on their ov¢r-burdened services.
As more dogs needed help the group began to grow and take on mor¢ work and consequently a more fornial arrangement was
adopted and eventually NAYBR became a registered charity.
Our Foster program continues to be our pr&orAty and these dogs, and their foster families receive all the care and support they
need from us.
Post pandemic has seen a general increase in all rescues being inundated with dogs as people return to work and offices
reopen. The dogs acquired during restrictions due to Covid are now seen as a hindTan¢¢ to some and a steady stream are being
handed to us. After anticipating this we are dealing with applications and surrenders as we were pre pandemic.

In Rescue.
Boxer dogs do come into rescue for many reasons such as;.
Abandonment
Handed in due to bereavement
Have suffered cruelty or neglect
Be too much for their owners
Be Tecomm¢nded to us by a vet or other professional body such as dog warden.
They have become unaffordable for the owners due to changes in ctrcumstances.
Owners simply do not have time to meet the needs of the dog.
Inipulse purchase (having watched a current adv¢rtisement showing an adorable boxer acting comically) that proves
unwise as the dog's needs are often not thought of at the time of purchase. Und¢rstanding the breed is paramount
here.
Pand¢mi¢ or LOCKDOWN dogs are still a feature of rescue.
Cost ofLiving crisis hitting families hard.
Whatever the reason, we believe that each and every dog des¢rves a happy, loving home and we will endeavour to find this for
each boxer in our care.
How do we achieve such Good Results at NAYBR?
We rescue boxer dogs that may have come into the rescue by the methods previously mentioned.
Every dog is assessed by a vet for general health cheKks and vaccinated if not already done. We now microchip unchipped
dogs 85 is Ihe law or change and update the details of the existing microchip if there is one. This is vital for the dog's welfare
and to comply with current law in the case of the microchip details.
Then each dog is measured for its 5Ultability for a new home. This involves finding out if the dog can live with other pets that
may be in their new home, if that dog can live with children and the nature of the dog. This can be achieved in some instances
by having the dog in a foster home. This gives the fosterer a first-hand insight into the nature of the dog and how it copes in a
home. Dogs in loving homes are happier too so it's a win win situation!
Some younger dogs need plenty of exercise whilst an older boxer may just need short strolls with a comfy bed and a loving
companion. We do our very best to match dog to owner to create a bond for life. We do NOT give a dog to the person at the
top of the list- the dog needs to be right for the owner and vi¢¢ versa. We make this clear to each potential adopter and to date
we have received positive feedback on this approach.
So, our success is born from good practice and experience.

Achlevements and Performance of Notts and Yorkshire Boxer Rescue
After achieving r¢gisteTed charity status in the spring of 2013 NAYBR volunteers fornled a committee and adopted a
constitution.
As a registered charity our constitution ts as follows:
"To promote humane behaviour towards dogs, Sn particular, but not exclusively? the breed known as boxers and boxer
cross breeds by providing appropriate care? protection, treatment and security for animals which llre in need of care
and attention by reason of siekness. maltreatment? poor circumstances or ill usage and to educate the public in matters
pertaining to dog welfare In general and the prevention of cruelty and suffering among dogs in Nottinghamshire and
Yorkshir¢.'
All members of NAYBR are proud to uphold the standard set in our constitution.
How the general public get involved wlth NAYBR and the public benefit we provide
tin
a boxer- following registration and a home-check, individuals are offered a suitable dog for their
lifestyle. An agreement is signed and support is offered to the adopting family for the whole life of the dog. We
believe it is this close and caring support network that has made our organisation a5 popular as it is.
rin
a boxer in need - Boxers love being with p¢ople and fare much better in a home than in kennels. We
have members who look after dogs in theÉr own homes with expenses being settled by the rescue. This gives the dog a
chance to live in a home environment and be assessed first hand by the fosterer. Any issues can be spotted and dealt
with during this period. Fosterer's give prospective new owners a firsthand account of exactly what the dog is like,
how th¢ dog copes with situations and can help enO￿OuSlY when placing dogs with new owners.

Whatever capacity they have helped in, whether a trustee or no¢ each one is valued and thanked individually. They may be
helping on the fundraising stall, picking up a do& perforn]ing a home Check or simply donating to our cause, we exist because
of the goodwill and co-operation of ¢ach and every member of the team. This is one of NAYBR'S BIGGEST SUCCESSES,
bringing together like-minded people and fonning a bond and supporting one another.
Every member considers themselv¢s a part of a unique family who knows support and guidance are at their fingertips: just ask
and help is there.
We even have people who have not adopt¢d from us but are boxer owners who have joined us as they like the friendly,
supportive nature of the group.
Support for NAYBR comes in many fornis but is most apparent on our Facebook page wher¢ members far and wide join in,
offer advice, ask for help and shar¢ their experiences. This has been a key factor in our growing success as a rescue team.
As in PT¢ViOUS years, last year our band of supporters grew and we hope to build on this excellent network of people.
recruiting new members and drawing on their experi¢n¢¢s of dealing with boxers, their fundraising ideas and especially their
help in staifing events during the coming year. As NAYBR expands and grows, so does our team of supporters.
This past year we have had continued exceptional support from some people who we would like to publicly recognise and
thank here:
The team at C Four Paw5 kennels for their continued belief and support of Rescue and for their professional assistan¢¢ and
understanding ofour rescue. Calagran new owners who have slipped into the profession well and the kennels are stÉll used
by us in the same capacity.
Staveley Vets: The resident vets at our kennels. Calagran Four Paws Hotel and Quarantine Kennel, who looks after the dogs
w¢ have there. Sean and James are very understanding of our breed, and nothing is too Tnuch trouble. They offer a
professional service and are always on hand if needed.
Kim Hunt: A dog behavior specialist who works with us to help dogs who are having difficulties with training and behavioi
issu¢s.
Jayne Strange.. Jayne offers Canine Massage Therdpy and has worked with our dogs to improve the quality of their lives.
A BIG Thank You
We are supported by some generous companies who kindly donate goods and services to help us. Their generosity has been a
key part of our success as without it, we simply would not have had th¢ funds to help as many dogs as we have and ralse
awareness of our cause. THANK YOU to these organisations - your support is very much appreciated!
