REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES for the year ended 31[st] December 2020
The trustees present their report and accounts for the year to 31[st] December 2020. The trustees have opted, under section 133 of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Charities Act’), to prepare receipts and payments accounts
Objectives and Aims
The charity's objects are specifically restricted to the following:

(1) To advance the Christian faith for the benefit of the public in accordance with stated doctrines.

(2) The prevention or relief of poverty in Asia or throughout the world by providing: grants, items and services to individuals in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.

(3) The prevention or relief of poverty [or financial hardship] anywhere in the world by providing or assisting in the provision of education, training, healthcare projects and all the necessary support designed to enable individuals to generate a sustainable income and be self-sufficient.
We are involved in working with organisations in Asia to provide medical relief, water aid, education, support for poor and needy people, building projects, farming projects, vocational training courses, and supporting Christian pastors and evangelists.
Public benefit
The Trustees have considered the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit and consider that the activities of the charity meet its charitable objectives and provide a benefit to the public.

The year’s highlights were as follows:
Governance

Andrew Shuttleworth and Micky Wright visit Saji Chacko in Kerala, January.

Zahid Kenny now has own charitable status and will divert all his work there.

Trustees involved in writing their first Impact report.

Monthly zoom prayer meetings established to include Asian partners and supporters in UK.

Clare Jeffries (Professional Fundraiser) engaged to work on Fund raising grants.
Saleem Raza – Lahore Pakistan

In Pakistan VFA were able to help complete the roof of a church in Qazian Wala village which was a blessing to the Christians in that area.

The orphanage was in need of a cooler for their water system, which was provided, and the orphanage received assistance in the form of a monetary gift.

During the Covid pandemic relief (food) was given to the needy people.
-
In December, the villagers were given a meal and gifts for the children to show the love of Jesus.
Samuel Joshua – Andhra Pradesh, India

VFA were able to raise provide two wells during 2020. One was in the village with 900 villagers and the other which benefitted 2500 in a village called Hanuman Nagar. During the opening ceremony the gospel is preached. Two other wells were also provided which benefitted many people who had to walk miles to collect dirty water every day.

Andraha Pradesh had a severe flood and relief was sent to many villages which included food, water and supplies.

In this area there is a great deal of slavery. Mainly this is young children who are abused, forced to beg and to do hard manual labour. Money was raised to rescue 5 boys aged 11 to 13 years old who were forced to mine stones.
Chary Refugio – Dipolog City, Philippines
- The orphanage set up by Chary has had continued support during the year with Christmas presents in December to show the love of Jesus.

A team of 3 supporters, Andrew Shuttleworth, Micky Wright and Ricky Wilson travelled to Kottayum and Tamil Nadu to minister to the Pastors and to see the new Baptism pool. This trip was supported by VFA and was completed before the lockdown.

Supporters from the United Kingdom give towards support for various Pastor to support their work.

Relief with food was given to Chary to help people in need due to the Covid pandemic.
-
Chary travels many miles over very rough terrain to visit the poor and the persecuted so when a tyre was needed VFA were happy to pay for this to assist Chary in his work.
Saji Chacko – Kerala, India

Saji wanted to help the women in Orissa to be taught a trade so they would be able to support themselves, so a sewing project was started and VFA were able to purchase of 3 sewing machines.

Saji arranged a conference requests for Pastors to refresh them, encourage and to teach and support for expenses was given towards this annual valuable event. To accomplish this a projector was required which was acquired through support by VFA.

In Orissa there is a leprosy colony which is supported by VFA with support towards food and any supplies needed.

The Christmas feeding programme were gifts for the children and a meal for the people is supported to show the love of Jesus.
Piyal Mondal – Kolkata, India

Rupamari Island in the Sunderban was badly flooded as surrounded on both sides by a tidal river. The defences were breached and the school supported by VFA was damaged. After an appeal for funds from supporter’s money for the full cost to repair the school was sent. During this time food and supplies were given to the 130 islanders as part of the relief work including tarpaulins for damaged houses. The school continued to be supported so children can obtain an education. The children always receive a gift and meal at Christmas plus their school uniform.

Several pastors are supported on a regular basis, Biplap, Peter and Piyal, which is used to support the work done amongst the villagers where these Pastors live. To support Pastors in their work a laptop was bought plus a Risco van which helps Pastors to use to support themselves doing various occupations.

One of our Pastors Mother in law desperately needed an operation to save her life and VFA were pleased to be able to assist as operations are expensive in India.
Robert Robie - Myanmar

Due to the Covid pandemic people in Myanmar were given food parcels when they were unable to work.

Pastor Robert and his new wife had to leave their flat which was furnished and move to an unfurnished flat. After an appeal VFA were able to furnish the new flat.

VFA have committed to support the Lord’s work in Myanmar by paying for the church rent along with the Pastors house rent.

Two orphans have been supported by VFA paying for their education for many years and this continues.

One Pastor was thrown in jail on a false charge and until a large fine was paid was unable to leave and was beaten every day. An appeal was made to the supporter and again VFA were able to pay the fine and gain release for the Pastor and pay for the medical costs needed.
Varun Tiswari – New Dehli, India
- Varun is supported by VFA to aid the work done for the Lord in that large city.
Varughese Mathew – Port Blair, Andaman Islands

Pastors are supported on a regular basis to assist in their daily work, this continues and relief work during the Covid pandemic was made to pay for food and supplies.

Shekhar Scott – Varanasi, India

Shekhar is supported on a regular basis for his work amongst the poor and disadvantaged in Varanasi.
Financial review
The trustees consider the financial performance by the charity during the year to have been satisfactory. The Statement of Financial Activities show net outgoing resources for the year of of £23,422 (PY incoming £23,634) The total reserves at the year-end after accounting for unrealised losses /after revaluing investments of £0 (PY £0), stand

at £8,973 (PY £32,395).
The charity’s principal source of funding is from donations and fund raising. Fund raising efforts by all supporters include ladies’ lunches, curry evenings, photographic presentations, jumble sales, Christmas bazaar, craft sales and local school table-top sales.
The key objective of the charity is to relieve poverty in the poorest areas Asia by providing practical relief to those in need, hardship and distress.
The Trust is committed to their objectives and aims and as the work enlarges the Trustees have adopted any policy to help them in their aims and objectives.
Reserves policy
Unrestricted reserves held at the year-end amounted to £789 (PY £4,242)
Structure, Governance and Management
Governing document
The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (converted) 17[th] May 2019
The directors of the company are also trustees for the purposes of charity law. The Trustees for the Charity were chosen carefully to draw on a breadth of experience from active local community leaders to managers of large retail outlets to give strength to the board on all aspects required to steer the charity and its aims forward.
Financial reports are presented to the board at each meeting. Minutes of each meeting are taken and subsequently distributed.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Vision for Asia
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of Vision for Asia (the Trust) for the year to 31[st] December 2020.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
the accounts do not accord with those records; or
-
the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I confirm that there are no other matters to which your attention should be drawn to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

1. Accounting Policies
Basis of preparing the financial statements and assessment of going concern
These accounts have been prepared on a receipts and payments basis as permitted by law for smaller charities.
The trustees consider that there are no material uncertainties about the charity's ability to continue as a going concern.
2. Trustee remuneration and benefits
None of the trustees have been paid any remuneration or received any benefits from an employment with the charity or a related entity.
