Chairman’s Report 2023-2024

## Diane Hirst

‘Firstly thank you all for coming along today.

The last year has continued to be a challenge fine tuning activities. Keeping volunteer numbers along with client numbers up to date does not come easily for those involved. This year has been somewhat disappointing in both fields. There has been promotion in the public place of the group and we think a lot of it is down to finances both personally and in education.

Our ponies are thankfully still giving pleasure to our clients (if somewhat unhelpful at times) but we all have our off days. Unfortunately ponies, like us, need to have refresher courses. Coaches continue to keep lessons as interesting as possible.

Congratulations must go to our new riding coach, who has obtained their certificate this year. Talking of which if anyone wishes to become a coach, please come and talk to me.

Unfortunately we will be losing Beverly although she will be staying as a trustee, so she has not escaped yet!! We have a new young lady who is working with Bev at present. Hopefully she will stay with us for the future.

The trustees have put in place lots of maintenance over the last year so as to make and encourage Chiverton to be a safe pleasant place to attend for both our group and our hirers who help to keep us afloat!! This will be ongoing. I must add that this has all been made possible with Bev’s hard work and donations.

Assessors are always pleased with the work we do when they visit the group. May we continue as a successful group giving pleasure to all within RDA and those connected to it.

I would like to add that there is a lot of work that goes on in the background with the trustees and others for which no one ever sees, without it Chiverton would be a very different place. So therefore I would like to give a special thankyou to my fellow trustees who are always on call when we have a problem. Also to our maintenance people 4Ways contractors who are always on call and are great supporters of the group. Well done Everyone’.
