St James Parochial Church Council (PCQ has the resrM)nstbiliry of c0-0tth￿g with the

evangelistic, social and ecumeni￿1. The PCC is also specifically responsible for the
mailltellancc of St Jwnes ChurclL
Objectives and activities
The PCC is committed ¢0 cllabliDg worship for as many tthplc as possiblc by d¢veloping a
wid¢ rdnge of services and worshipping opportw)ities. Our services put faith into practice
througb prnyer. scripblle music and s￿a￿ent
Structure, goveTnance and management
Membets of thc PCC aTC either ex-officio or elected by the Annual PaThKhial Church Meeling
(APCM) in accordatlce with thc ChEwch Representation Rules. The iDcufDbcnC Thc R¢verend
Karen Young, left the Parish in Spring 2022 and was not replaced until spring 2023, thereforc

Tnattets to be put before the P.C.C. and prepare the agcnd& It consists of the Vicar,
churchwardens. P.C.C. S¢cr¢tary. P.C.C. Treasurer and one elected member of the P.C.C.

Safeguarding
In accordAnrx with the Clmrch Repttt8entatton Rules 2017. the PCC hhs recognised its duty or
duc regard to the Hous¢ of Bishops safeguarding guidance. The PCC h&s adopted the House of
Bishops Thmottng a Safer Chuych. safeguarding poli¢y sthtement.. The PCC has drawn up its
own p)licy and procedure statement. All PCC members and those involved in the Pastoral Team
havc up to date DBS checks. The Safeguarding officer (Val Ellis) Tep)rts at each PCC meett'ng.
Achievements and perforniance
St. Jamcs has run well and efficiently throughout the InterregDum with the h¢lp of the Lay
Cballperson, churChward￿￿. PCC memb¢rs. congregatio￿ Visiting Clergy and Organists. All
s¢rvi¢es of Worship have beett Provided for the Collgregation and everyone was grateful for ihe
smooth rLJnDing of the Church. New members were welcomed and llew friends were made.
The PCC met stx times during thc ycar. The Standitig Committee did not meet. The APCM was
held led by Micbael Walker Ivice Chair).
Dtjring the year. fourfimeTals were held ￿ StJaTn¢s. Thae wffe also two MeM￿la1 services and
one BaptiSUL
The gard¢ning club works bard to see that the church grounds are Deat and tidy and picnic (ables
and benLhes were placed in the garden for pcoplc to cnjoy thc outsidc aT¢a. We were bappy to
receive a grant from thc Bi5hop5' fi￿d in the prior year to help us be able to achieve this.
We contjnue to support our I￿￿1 food bank and the local Rainbow baby bonk on a regular
monthly basis. We also contsnue our efforts to recycle batteries. medication blister packs and
plastics.
Fund raising efforts have all been very well supported and raised much needed fiuth. Some of
the events include:_ Bacon Breakfast Mornings, a Summer Fair, Quiz Btngo. Aft¢rnoon Teas, 8
Haryest Te4 a Br￿ Band Show and 8 Christsnas Lunch. Links to local Junior and Senior
Schools have also b¢cll maintained The PCC is grdtefill to those who maintaincd thcir giving
througbout.
The Parish Sbare paid was £27.056. Any TepaiTS needed on the Church were done.
The church couununity is in go(MJ heart and we Iwk fonvard to the future w&th corfftfidence.
Financial Activities
The accounts for 2022 record a deficit of £24L p¥ethmin8otly due to increase in the costs
of rnnning the church. Income from S￿la1 events is higher than last year (£9k) which is
promising. The PCC iq gratefid kn those who mainthined iheir giving throughout the year.
Nevertbeless. the parish share of £27k was paid ID full and thc PCC remains commiited (o
paying the full hare for the foreseeable future.
