APPRECIATION REPORT

YOUR GENEROSITY IN ACTION YOUR IMPACT, THEIR JOURNEY: SEE THE POWERFUL MOMENTS YOU'VE MADE POSSIBLE

A High Holiday Season Filled with Meaning— Thanks to You

Thanks to your unwavering support, the holidays at Chabad on Campus were nothing short of extraordinary. Each celebration was a testament to your generosity and commitment to our students' Jewish connection. Here’s how YOU made a difference:

A Warm Welcome to the New Year

You brought students together for a beautiful Rosh Hashanah dinner, where they shared reflections on the past year and made inspiring resolutions. The room buzzed with connection, laughter, and the sweet taste of apples and honey.

Pride and Unity on Campus

With your help, students gathered for Shofar blowing in the heart of campus, expressing their pride in their Jewish faith in an environment that can sometimes feel unwelcoming.

A Joyful Sukkot

Students and professors alike celebrated together under the stars in the sukkah you built. Joyful meals, meaningful conversations, and a palpable sense of unity marked every moment.

Lulav, Sushi, and Connection

You made it possible for students to shake the Lulav and Etrog at a lively sukkah gathering filled with delicious sushi, warm soups, and endless smiles.

Honouring Shemini Atzeret with Unity

Through your support, students joined in hakafot, reciting special prayers to remember the victims of October 7. Your impact created an atmosphere of deep reflection and solidarity.

MICHAEL’S JOURNEY: FROM SKEPTICISM TO CONNECTION

When Michael walked into the first session of Sinai Scholars, a programme that meets for 2 hours a week for 8 weeks and introduces students to the philosophy and practices of Judaism, he openly shared that he didn’t believe in G-d.* He admitted he was skeptical about Judaism’s relevance in his life and unsure what he would take away from the programme.

But your generosity had created a space where he felt safe to explore these questions without judgment. By the third session, Michael began to reflect differently.

He was captivated by the idea of mitzvot as a way to build a relationship with G-d . “It’s like being the caddy boy for a famous golfer,” he said. “Each mitzvah is a small act of service, but it’s part of something much greater than myself.”

Week by week, Michael’s perspective shifted. The philosophical discussions, the sense of community, and the genuine care he experienced all began to resonate. At the final session, he reflected on how far he had come. “Eight weeks ago, if you’d told me I’d be keeping Shabbat, I’d have laughed and said ‘no way.’ But today, I’m doing it. And I like it.”

Rabbi Yossi, who witnessed Michael’s journey, shared, “It’s incredible to see someone come in with doubts and leave with a newfound commitment. Michael’s story is a reminder of the power of openminded exploration and the community we’re building together.” Because of you, Michael’s journey from skepticism to connection became possible. You created a space where he could question, explore, and ultimately find his own path to Judaism. Your impact goes beyond one student—you’re helping shape the Jewish leaders of tomorrow. NEW INITIATIVE: MENTAL HEALTH WISDOM FROM THE TORAH

You’re not just helping students connect to their faith—you’re giving them the tools to face modern challenges. This year, you helped launch a new discussion group that explores mental health through the lens of Torah wisdom. These sessions have become a safe haven where students share, connect, and learn life-changing lessons rooted in Jewish tradition. One student remarked, “This group has given me strength I didn’t know I had.”

EMPOWERING WOMEN WITH GIRLS TORAH AND TEA

Through your generosity, young women on campus are discovering the beauty of women’s mitzvot. Girls Torah and Tea is more than just a class; it’s a supportive community where students find meaning and empowerment. One participant shared, “For the first time, I see how my role as a Jewish woman is not just important but deeply inspiring. Thank you for making this possible.”

A NOTE OF GRATITUDE FROM RABBI YOSSI AND RIVKI

Dear Cherished Partner,

YOU are the heart and soul of everything we do. Every meal shared, every Shabbat candle lit, every connection made—it’s all because of you. Your unwavering commitment and generosity have transformed Chabad on Campus into a beacon of light, a place where students find their roots, their community, and their faith.

You made it possible for students to gather together and celebrate the joy of Jewish life, even in challenging environments.

You created a space where Michael, who once doubted his connection to G-d, discovered the profound meaning of mitzvot and is now embracing Shabbat.

You made it possible for young women to find strength and inspiration through Torah and Tea, and for countless others to explore the wisdom of the Torah in ways that address their mental health and personal growth.

Because of you, students feel seen, supported, and proud of their heritage.

Your kindness extends far beyond the campus; it shapes the Jewish future, one meaningful experience at a time.

We are humbled and inspired every day by your dedication and hope to continue this journey with you.

Your impact is felt in every hug, every prayer, and every step toward a brighter Jewish tomorrow.

From all of us at Chabad, thank you for being an integral part of this journey.

Thank you,

Yossi and Rivki Cheruff

APPRECIATION REPORT - SPRING 2025

Your support has been unwavering this term!

So much learning, joy, and Jewish pride is happening because of YOU.

Because of your kindness, Shabbat meals, megillah readings, deep Torah learning, and Jewish pride are alive and thriving in Birmingham.

We even had visiting students from Israel who were shocked—in the best way—by the unity and warmth of the Jewish community here. They saw students from all backgrounds, just curious – sitting around one shabbat table, singing together, discussing deep ideas, asking questions and really enjoying one another’s company.… all because of you.

This is what builds the Jewish future.

This is what builds the leaders of tomorrow.

From the bottom of our hearts—thank you.

We could not do it without you.

With deep appreciation, Yossi & Rivki

You brought Purim joy and Jewish pride!

You brought so many students to Shul to hear the Megillah this Purim. And when Haman’s name was read aloud – You should’ve heard the noise!

Thanks to your support, the graggers were loud, the energy was electric, and the message was clear: We will stamp out evil and raise up light and goodness.

You made that happen.

Tefillin, Candles, and Challah: You helped us stand tall on Campus While antisemitism raised its voice, YOU helped us raise ours. You gave them the confidence and community to do that. We showed up as proud Jews on campus—thanks to you.

Your gift keeps giving: Sinai Scholars keep learning

Because of you, students aren’t just finishing the programme—they're continuing with deep, thoughtful courses on faith, free choice, and why bad things happen to good people. You're building lifelong learners.

This is real, ongoing Jewish growth – thanks to you.

Two Sinai Groups. One Goal: Jewish growth

Basic and advanced classes meet weekly—thanks to you. Students are deepening their understanding and their connection to Judaism. You're enriching their lives and their future.

A space for Jewish women to grow

A weekly girls' class explores identity and the Jewish psyche.

This space, this connection—it’s all your doing.

You brought authentic Gemara learning to campus

Because of you, boys who’ve spent time in yeshiva now have the opportunity to reconnect with real Torah learning right here on campus.

Every week, they join a proper Gemara shiur—deep, challenging, authentic.

You’ve given them something they’ve missed: the chance to dive into the Talmud, ask questions, debate, and grow.

This isn't just learning—it's connection, it's identity, it's soul nourishment. Thank you for making that possible.

You created a true open Jewish home—every Shabbat

There is only one place in Birmingham where every Jewish student is always welcome for Shabbat—no invite needed, no charge, no barriers.

At Chabad, students can sign up any week, and we never turn anyone away. You’ve created a space where students feel safe, welcomed, and at home. That space only exists because of you.

Can you help us keep it going—for Pesach and next term?

Please help support Jewish students on campus again.

Your donation today helps us prepare for a joyful, meaningful Pesach, and continue supporting Jewish students next term with powerful Jewish experiences.
