Morecambe Community Church

Trustee’s report

Following in the wake of Covid 19, Morecambe Community church has continued to stream virtual real time church services as well as meeting in person. We have found that the YOUTUBE transmission at 11am is regularly watched by people locally, nationally, and internationally. We have on average 20 people watching us live stream.

We have recently changed how we present our church services and aim to be more interactive with our congregation. We have found that this has made people more included, allows them to share their view and feelings but also allows people to ask important questions and share these in small groups.

We have on average between 30 - 40 regular attendees and often have couples or families dropping in for one off services. We also connect with Capernwray bible school and host bible school students on a regular basis. We have found that our congregation enjoys meeting the international students and learning about their different churches. This is something that we will be continuing with. With the cost of living crisis, Morecambe Community Church has attempted to maintain close contact with our congregation and still provide emotional and practical support when this is needed during these extremely difficult times. Our church motto is Faith, Hope and love, experienced, expressed and inspire. We will continue to put God and our motto at the forefront of all our work and prayers.

Treasurer’s Annual Report 2021/2022

This financial year for our church it has been one of reinvention of our Sunday Services as we continue to recover from the closures caused by Covid 19.

Though we could now start to meet together again, restrictions and guidelines were still in place on proximity and how close worshipers could be with each other.

We still provided live online steaming of the services via You Tube for those who still felt vulnerable or wanted to replay the service at a later date.

So instead of formal rows of chairs, all facing the same way towards the preacher and music group; a more casual in the round layout was adopted with small family groups positioned around the room, suitably spaced apart to prevent cross contamination.

To achieve this, we needed to purchase new furniture, extra screens and overhead projectors as well a video camera upgrade. The overall cost was approximately a thousand pounds.

Fortunately, during Covid our church community continued to give their offertory/donations by regular standing orders from their bank accounts, but there was no longer the “collection plate” for one off cash gifts by visitors and others that were able. Hence income fell slightly and therefore so did additional income from Gift Aid.

Though our church has always had a slow depletion of its funds since it started twenty years ago, this year the loss doubled from last’s to £2500 because of the changes we had to make and there were very few new or returning members coming to the church since we were able to reopen.

Our church motto is Faith Hope and Love, the hope and prayers is that things will continue to improve in the future for all of us.
