with the main objectives of engaging in
educational, cultural, sports and promoting
charitable initiatives benefiting wider as well as
targeted communities.

One of our main objective seeks to preserve,
promote, and celebrate the multi-cultural
aspect of India.

Our goal is to infuse our rich cultural heritage
into the vibrant local community across five
neighbouring counties which is a
conglomeration of cultures and traditions; and
to showcase the tradition and depth of Indian
culture to foster better understanding and
appreciation.

The new executive team and the trustees
planned and delivered its first community
inclusion event by organising a summer
Barbeque at The Sherington Pavilion. BBQ
was done by our volunteers, Fun games
and impromptu cultural events were
organised for all age groups. All members
were encouraged to participate to promote’
healthy lifestyle and keep active’.
It also promoted mental well-being through
openhearted social interaction. A few sport
events were planned for children to keep
them engaged and included. Fund was
raised through various activities and part of
it went towards our two selected Health
charities.


Other two accomplishments were: us
promoting both indoor as well as outdoor
events for all age groups by organising
weekly Table Tennis and Badminton
sessions. Other one was organising Yoga
sessions for our volunteer members to
support releasing day long exhaustion and
mental stress through Yoga and
meditation.

Our next public benefit event was our signature community festival Durga puja (Dusserah) celebration which had been organised for five days from 01/10/2022 to 04/10/2022 at Woughton Leisure Centre in Milton Keynes for our local community as well as for the people from Indian subcontinent residing in the neighbouring five LAs which other than Milton Keynes include Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire. There were around more than 3000 people visited the festival and celebrated festival with a mix of religious rituals, cultural programmes, prompting food of Bengal through food stalls. Our volunteers cooked meals for around 3000 attendees in those five days. Stage decoration of festival site promoted cultural heritage of Bengal and attracted appreciation by many of the visitors from varied culture. The whole event is example of social inclusion of ethnic as well as mainstream population and in prompting cultural heritage of eastern part of India the wider population and raising awareness in the next generation British Asian youth about their cultural heritage.

MKAC has also coordinated celebration of Kali puja (Diwali) at Bow Brickhill Pavilion with new Idol gifted by two members and with around 500 people attending from all age groups and different communities from MK and the neighbouring towns.

The spring festival (Sarasvati puja) which celebrates knowledge, art, music and culture was organised at Irish Centre in Milton Keynes. This festival is especially for younger people and students. Younger people participated with full enthusiasm, show cased their performance art and musical talents.

Our other two important accomplishments
which help us fulfil our core values include
featuring vocal, instrumental or performing
arts talents from India as well as our
inhouse talents from the UK and
organising and participating in both
outdoor (cricket tournaments) and indoor
(table tennis/Badminton) sport activities.

zoom sessions for community members
to interact as well as volunteers from
varied health speciality were invited to
talk on Covid and its preventive

It consists of members who believe in our
values and goals of the association as laid
down in the Constitution and have joined it
by agreeing to pay the required annual
donation to support the objectives. Our
entire staff consists of volunteers with no
compensated management or staff.

The executive functions of the organisation
are performed by the Executive Committee
elected by, from and among the volunteer
members for two years. Our subcommittees
require expert input in various functions
required in delivering activities. All that
expertise is offered without any
compensation for time and effort.

There is a Board of Trust that governs the
policy matters of the association.

Our member volunteers other than
supporting core values/objectives of the
charity, also support various community
activities at individual level on behalf of
MKAC, such as delivering health education
sessions for the targeted community,
supporting health screening sessions for
hard to reach groups (rough sleepers),
extending support to other community
organisations/charities in their objectives
(marathon/walks)

PART 1

1. Adoption of the constitution

The association and its property will be administered and managed in accordance with the provisions in Parts 1 and 2 of this constitution.

2. Name

The association’s name is Milton Keynes Ananda Club

(And in this document it is called the charity)

3. Objects

The charity’s objects are the advancement of the Hindu religion and Hindu culture and heritage for the public benefit in particular but not exclusively through the holding of prayer meetings and organising cultural functions and Hindu religious festivals (including festivals such as Durga Puja, Laxmi Puja and Kali Puja).

[Nothing in this constitution shall authorise an application of the property of the charity for purposes which are not charitable in accordance with section 7 of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and/or section 2 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.]

4. Application of income and property

(1) The income and property of the charity shall be applied solely towards the promotion of the objects.

5. Benefits and payments to charity trustees and connected persons

(1) General provisions

No charity trustee or connected person may:

unless the payment is permitted by sub-clause (2) of this clause, or authorised by the court or the Charity Commission (‘the Commission’).

In this clause, a ‘financial benefit’ means a benefit, direct or indirect, which is either money or has a monetary value.

The charity and its charity trustees may only rely upon the authority provided by sub-clause (2)(c) of this clause if each of the following conditions is satisfied:

i. holds more than 50% of the shares; or ii. controls more than 50% of the voting rights attached to the shares; or iii. has the right to appoint one or more trustees to the board of the company.

(1) Subject to sub-clause (2) of this clause, all decisions of the charity trustees, or of a committee of the charity trustees, shall be valid notwithstanding the participation in any vote of a charity trustee:

If, without the vote of that charity trustee and that charity trustee being counted in the quorum, the decision has been made by a majority of the charity trustees at a quorate meeting.

(2) Sub-clause (1) of this clause does not permit a charity trustee to keep any benefit that may be conferred upon him or her by a resolution of the charity trustees or of a committee of charity trustees if,

but for sub-clause (1), the resolution would have been void, or if the charity trustee has not complied with clause 22 (Conflicts of interests and conflicts of loyalties).
