## **GYGYC Chairperson report October 2023** 

Every year has its challenges, but this year seems to have been exceptionally challenging. Still trying to get back on track from the covid challenges, Terry and the team were met with having to go mobile. 

The office was closed for refurbishment and to make a safe and healthy place to work in. Meetings took place where a space in the Shrublands Community Centre was made available, with a lot of support from Julie Woods and The borough councils community hub team. 

The refurbishment then moved into the Shrublands centre resulting in the group’s not being able to meet as normal, thus causing extra cost to the budget in taking the group’s out. 

Sourcing funding has been a big challenge following on from covid, the charities have tightened up on applications. We also have had to check and update our policies to enable us to apply.  Sourcing funding is a major part of GYGYC so we can continue to offer the muchneeded support for our young carers.  The demand for spaces is an ever-growing list from different organisations. 

The work carried out in schools is another important part of what GYGYC provides, balancing the books is a real juggling act, finances relying on grants to provide the groups to meet and provide support, plus paying the dedicated staff to make sure this much needed Charity continues. 

A very big thank you to Terry, Hayley, Ricky, Kim, Donna-Lisa and Niamh for all the hard work they under take in providing GYGYC to function.

Charitable Objects..
The charity provides Support to young carer5 in the Great Yarmouth and Gorleston area.
Public Benefit-.
In all its activities and decision making by trustees of the charity, they have taken into
consideration the Chaiity Commission guidance in respect of Public Benefit.
Financial position..
The statement of Financial Activities shows that at 31 March 2023 the cha rity had total
funds of £222,948 of which £ 13,951 were unrestricted funds and £208,997 were restricted
funds.
The trustees believe that the funds are adequate but not excessive to fulfil the obligations of
the charity.
