Objectives and activities
Aclivity Summary
During the year 2024-25 Alive & Klcking Theatre has worked wilh 2,638 chlldren in 28 schools and
nurserles, during 126 visits to 77 ￿th01e classes, tsktng them on 20 different drama adven￿reS, during
which children confronted te￿OrS and conquered quests Fn ancient Gr88ce, joumeyed through
mountains and enjoyed exciting adventures at the bottom of the bottom of the bottom of the sea. They
uncovered hFStory and challenged the threats facing Bradford Beck through time, and they expeilenced
the horrors of the Victorian workhouse and foughl for justice. They encountered the ghosts of Egyptlan
Pharaohs, faced great perll and burlt PyTamids without modem aids. And they created incredible
original tsles, meeting witches. friends, foes and heroes, solving mysteries and defeating demons,
discovering magic and harnessing the poV￿r of language and imaginatlon. Over 200 teachers and
classroom staff Joined Iheir children in drama adventures and 300 more participated in speclallst Alive
& Ki¢khng CPD and training.

Activity Highllghts
The company has created and rolled out a brand-new PToje¢t, The Book Buslders. Inspired by annual
World Book Day celebrations, this is a fantastic whole school I key 81age event Mthich invites children
to collaborate across classes and year groups in the Creation of new storles. We have tested new
Ideas, worklng wlth teachers to develop a workshop whl¢h supports the launch of class reader, books,
insplrlng children (and teachers) to dive into new book8 with enthusiasm and confidence. This supports
the upcoming National Year of Readlng 2026. knd we have adapted drama adventures developed
during our long-running involvement in the major Sknymakers partnership programme, spearheaded
by Leeds Beckett Universlty, creating versions of The Hidden River and Eath Split Island that can be
delivered in any school.
We have worked closely with all OUT schools and have created bespoke packages which see us
bringing multiple dfama adventures and working vfith different classes, often as part of wtder school
evenls or projects. And we are thrilled to be woiking Y•ith Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture a8
delivery partner, meeting lots of new children, teachers and schools, as we support thelr mission to
work ￿ryth all Bradford primary schools.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of Plive and Kicking Theatre
Company Limlted (Ihe chariv) for the year ended 31 August 2025.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the trustees of the company (and also fts directors for the purposes ol company law) you are
responsible for the preparation of the financial statements tn accordance wilh Ihe requirements of the
Companies A¢t 2006 (Ihe 2006 Art).
Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the company are not required to be audited under Part 16
of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examinalion, I report in respect of my examination of
the charity'5 accounts as caFfied out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 ('the 2011 Act.). In
carrylng out my examination I have followed the Dyeclions given by the Charty Commission under
section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Acl.

I have completed my examinatlon. I confirni that no matters have come to my attenllon in connection
with the examination giving me cause to believe:

The financial statements have been prepared on the historical cost basls, as modified by the
revaluation of certain financial assets and liabiliti'es and investment properties measured at fair
value through income or expenditure.

There are no materlal uncertainties about the charitys ability to continue.
Fund accounting
Unrestricted funds are avallable for use at Ihe dscretion of the trustees lo further any of the
