I Our charity gets its money in the following ways:

1 Donations from well-wishers
-
a. These are mainly in the form of monthly standing orders and
-
b. gifts through the ‘Donate’ button on the website, which was at first through Paypal and later through Stripe
-
2 Gifts from other organisations
-
a. We received a grant from the National Lottery Fund for an epilepsy education project that is ring-fenced for work in the UK
-
3 Refunds from HMRC on Gift-Aided donations
II How our charity spends its money
-
1 Our primary focus is on financing the work of CareEpilepsy Ethiopia (Registered Ethiopian Charity 3380) who run educational and medical programs in Ethiopia for people impacted there by epilepsy, and who advocate for better government care for people with epilepsy.

2 We supplement the funds that CareEpilepsy Ethiopia raises locally to enable them to run an effective office in Addis Ababa.

3 We paid for our CEO (who draws no salary) to take two trips to Ethiopia to help the office in achieving the charity’s goals.

4 We paid for the CEO to go to the USA for a fund-raising trip in May 2024. The money raised was sent directly to Ethiopia to avoid double currency transaction charges.

5 We buy a few supplies to be taken to Ethiopia, such a Conductive Paste for their EEG machine

6 We buy computers and software for the Ethiopian office. 7 We pay the CEO’s broadband charges and basic office costs

1 Statutory information
CareEpilepsy is a charity (Registered UK Charity No. 1151942) and also a limited company,
Apartment 39, 131-143 Belsize Road, London, NW6 4BR.
2 Average number of employees
During the year there were no employees.
For the year ending 31 December 2024, section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 exempts the company from audit under the micro-entities regime.
However, the Charity Commission requires an audit where annual income exceeds £25,000 AND the charity is a limited company.
I acknowledge my responsibilities for complying with the legislation with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31 December 2024.
Responsibilities and As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation basis of report of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have examiner's statement come to my attention (other than that disclosed below *) in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or
-
the accounts do not accord with the accounting records
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
