CHICHESTER WELFARE TRUST – CHAIRMAN’S REPORT STATEMENT 2021 -2022 

As a registered charity Chichester Welfare Trust aims to relieve poverty and hard ship in the City of Chichester and the adjoining parishes by providing grants, items and services to individuals and families in need. 

The welfare grants which have been made this year amount to the value of £9197.56p.  Our investments are well managed to ensure we gain the maximum potential income on these reserves so that we can reinvest this return in grants and to those in need.  The small but essential donations have been for carpets and curtains, help with nursery school fees, machines etc. etc.    Ruth Taunt our wonderful welfare officer has been working with WSCC ensuring that those in most need are getting help.  We have also helped Sanctuary in Chichester with funding for Afghan refugee families. 

Thanks to our wonderful clerk Clare de Bathe, our investments are being very well managed to gain the most benefit to help so many people who are in need.  Our previous very caring chair Nick Taunt resigned to pursue pastures new.  I must thank him for all he did for the charity.  I have now taken over as the chair and I am privileged to be involved with this brilliant charity. 

We were very sad to hear of the death of Michael Woolley a previous chair who did so much for Chichester Welfare Trust. 

Again I want to thank Clare de Bathe and Ruth Taunt for all they do.  Also thank you to all the trustees who give us good support.
