The p&st year broughi unique Lhallenges and opwynunities for the church. In particular, the impacL risks. and
restrictions due ro ihe Covid-19 pandemic. church communiiy adapted and responded well io ihe limitaiions

Through the minisiry aeiiviries of objeciiye two, the church h&5 remained very busy throughout ih¢ pandemic. We

We have also revised our website aNI the branding of church. We now feel ihat ihis reflects accurately our

Obje¢live Two
Mallhew's House has gained increasing credibility and support from the wider community of Swansea during ihe
p&si 12 monihs. A key catslyst for this development has been our resilience and response to the Covid-19
pandemic. Our leadership and stsff i¢am wer¢ in5trumenthl in co-ordinating and leading the Swansea Tog¥ether
response throughoul. This collective reS￿nSt was instigaled on 17 March ?O?O by MaiihcH' s Housc. in
partnership with £ac"s Place. and it quickly fornialiged inio a network of i5 organisations who collaboraied to
ensuTe that the vulnerably housed and rough sl¢¢pers in Swansea were noi forgottcn. Wiihin three days of the
pandemic sweeping the UK and the fir%t lockdown being announced a plan for materialised io provide a hot meal
and other hygiene essentials io be deliver¢d daily io anyone living in any form of teM￿rary accommodation
across the city. Throughout Matthew's Housc supplied provision5 thr¢¢ days a w¢¢k, whilst also man4ing ihe
logisiics of delivery seven days a week- thlls ensuring that there provision every day of the week.
These meals were delivered with packs that conveyed hope and that no one had forgotten. Up to 180 meals
were delivered every day io between 15-2? locations by volunteers and the Swansea Together organisations. This
equated to 18.000 packs ￿Ing seni out over ihe fir&i five month5 of ihe pandemic. Following ihis, and as
resiriciions ￿83n to we co-ordinated a safe irdnsiiion io a sev¢n-day ouidoor emerg¢ncy ￿kedWaY across
the cily averdging 7fv1(K) hoi meal packages daily. This provision was still orerating at the end of the financial
year.

Obj¢¢tive Two (rontinued)
Throughout ihis peri￿ our volunteer team fluctualed due io oiher commilments and caring r¢sFM)nsibilitiCs. This
meani ongoing recnjiiment and iraining of new Volun￿er5 w&s e%sential and the volunittr base grew in exces5
beyond 100 volunteers by the end of the calendar ycar. and ihere were an addition￿ 36 iempordry volunteers who
served during the first lockdown. Our volunteers continued io be drawn from every sphere and demo￿41ph1C of
our city. This brings" advanthges of diversily, but also challenges. Our core ieam led this aspeci of ihe project in a
noieworthy manner and coniirtued throughout to etnbed ihe culture of hospiraiiiy and ho￿ in all who s¢rved.
Many of our volunieers (over 50L/b(*) are connecied to Matthew s House via being A guest- either through a guest
receiving suprKJrt through ihecafe. homeless period. oradvocacy scheme. Many ofour Volun1￿t3 regularly donaie
or fundraise for ihe pr()ject.
During these 12 months we awarded ?6 volunittrs w.ith awards for four years continuous volunleering seNice.
This pays tribute to our volunteer reteniion and the ¢uliure devel0F￿￿ ai Manhew's House. Th¢ toial numbcr of
volunteer applications received sin¢¢ ?017 h&$ SUTpass4xI 400. and we have robusi selection and iraining

we operated a more focused emphasis on wellbeing of the volunieers- which in¢ludcd ielephonc sUPPOrt ¢h¢ck-

time.
Fundmsins ha5 ken a blend of success and ¢hailenge ihroughoul ihis Prior io ihe pandemic we were able
to complete the Cold Truth campaign which raiscd £1 1.000 and involved 30 fundraising participanis. However.
the Swansea Half Maraihon (where we usually have 8+ runneT51 w&s cancelled and this a significant lost
opwirtunity. One creative soluiion was our Hom¢ Run ini11￿1Ve. which raised £4.200 with I I panicipdnts.
Therefore, we saw higher engagement. but a reduction in funds rdised. The Hill Church members have donated
an excess 01-£(￿).000 iowards the project- with many of the church memlKrs dOn￿1n6Y tnonthly basis Ls well.
Our eontscts have now grown to more than individuals. busin¢sscs, 5chool& naiional third secior
