TRUSTEES' REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST DECEMBER 2022
TRUSTEES REPORT
For the year ended 31st December 2022
The trustee has pleasure in submitting the report and accounts for the year 2022.
Charitable Objects
A.The principal object of the church is for the advancement of the Christian faith in accordance with the statement of faith and to relieve sickness and financial hardship and to promote and preserve good health by the provision of funds, goods or services in such parts of Portsmouth, the United Kingdom or the world as the trustees from time to time may think fit.
B. Summary of main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects. The church is not a building, but a gathering of people of different race, ages, and background whose lives have been transformed by Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The bible reveals that the church is a community of people, being well taught and cared for, by loving and serving Jesus Christ and committed to love one another and to be a blessing to others.
TGSIM UK Church, its trustees, elders, leaders and members are committed to these biblical principles, to help people to know, love and follow Christ.
To achieve these objectives, the church seeks to be a friendly and welcoming community. It provides a variety of activities which are open to the membership and to the community in general. Our aim is to show the love of Jesus Christ in both word and deed and to bring people into a closer relationship with Him thereby promoting growth and discipleship and to help the new members in the church to integrate into fellowship, via small groups which meet regularly in the homes of some members. Pastoral care of the church community is also enabled through these small groups.
During the year, TGSIM UK has continued to demonstrate Christian Faith in action by serving the community in which it operates through the following activities.
1.Sunday afternoon service has continued to provide a central focus for the community, bringing together the many members of the church family in worship. Central to the work and witness of the church is the provision of regular public services of Christian fellowship. These services normally take place each Sunday at 2pm. Providing relevant biblical preaching/teachings and activities for children and youth during Sunday school. Followed by fellowship to promote love, support and encouragement as a body of Christ.
- Communion or the Lord’s supper is also observing every first Sunday of the month, an ordinance instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ, primarily designed to stimulate in the believer’s hearts remembrance of the person and work of Jesus and to be observed till He come again.
3.Providing pastoral work including praying/visiting the sick/bereaved family, and counselling by our charity pastor and elders.
4.Conducting one on one and small group discipleship, training and attending conference to promote spiritual growth and to train new leaders who will take care and lead people to Christ.
5.Providing Community outreach activities like family day and sports fest evangelism.
6.Supporting overseas Pastoral missions.
7.Operating weekly cell groups meeting within the City of Portsmouth and other neighboring places.
Achievements and performance
A. Events
The charity held different events, maintaining the objective for the advancement of the Christian faith, to care and support for every individual and families.
The 12th year thanksgiving church anniversary was held on the 4th of December, we were able to celebrate this glorious day of many blessings upon our church, thanking God for His faithfulness and His good graces for sustaining us through.
Under the provision and guidance of our loving God, through the leading of our Charity Pastor Romwel Azores alongside with the leaders and committed members of the congregation, the life and work of the church has continued to flourish.
THE GOOD SHEPHERD INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS UK CHARITABLE INCORPORATED ORGANISATION
Varied events like Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter Sunday, Family Day, Evangelism Sport's fest, and Pastor's appreciation were successfully held with newly invited people in the community, we truly honor God in each event and glorifying His name, that made it truly victorious and significant. Sharing lives and the love of Christ to the people in the community through the word of God that was preached by our pastor on every event that was held. God brought us together, to be one in Him that we might bring light to the world. Giving thanks to God for making every possible success of the different events that were held this year.
Members are also encouraged to take an appropriate part in the spiritual and practical tasks involved in the furtherance of the charitable objectives.
We are thankful and grateful to our minister who preach the Word every Sunday and two(2) elders who were also assigned to preach on a scheduled basis, to the Worship leaders and members who lead the congregation to worship the Lord , to the media/ technical team who looks after the sound and video, to those who host the service every Sunday, and to every ministries and individual that are involved. To God be all the glory.
The charity was able to continue the online service via zoom and fb live streaming to share the gospel to other parts of the world.
Committed members have joined different ministries and leaders were encouraged in serving the Lord and to develop their leadership skills.
B. Training and Discipleship
It has been wonderful to see the members of the church continuously growing in the faith, grace and in the knowledge of God for the last twelve (12) months.
Group activities and one on one discipleship is in progress as we aim for more members to fully mature in Christ, serving God with love and passion.
Youth and Children are being trained according to their gifts and willingness in order for them to serve the people in the church as well as in the community.
The Church was able to help members to identify their spiritual gifts and to utilise them to show their love for God and also to provide services in the community.
New people were added to cell groups and eventually were retained members of the church and committed to support the church ministry according to their gifts.
99% of the church members are actively attending bible study cell groups and have publicly professed their faith through the ordinance of water baptism. This year we have four (4) adults and one (1) youth who were baptized in water, in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit
The cell groups are helping to fulfil the vision of Christ for the church, to win the world for Jesus. This can only be achieved when all believers become disciples themselves. The small group setting of a cell group is a practical means to see this discipleship happening, and to reach out to the lost and to nurture new believers. We are also called to love one another, care for one another, teach and encourage one another, exhort, admonish, and restore one another.
We are grateful for the guidance and support of our church pastor who is mainly responsible for providing pastoral care for the congregation, equipping, and also discipling committed members of the church.
Church elders and cell leaders willingly offer voluntarily help for the pastoral care, discipling potential leaders and organization of different activities and the role of administration. Several workers were added and are voluntarily serving in the church.
C. Mission
The charity pastor was able go to Philippines this year for a mission together with his family to physically visit, support and minister to TGSIM churches in the Philippines.
We were able to reach out to people in other countries via FB live streaming and via zoom and they were able to join us in our Sunday church service and cell group bible study.
The charity has provided financial support to TGSIM churches in the Philippines on a regular basis to aid in serving their people in the church as well as in their community.
The charity continues to offer financial help as part of the benevolence support to our regular members and to their immediate family as per the charity benevolence protocol.
Trustees Responsibilities
The trustees are aware of the guidance and public benefit published by the charity commission and we believed that the activity of the church provided significant public benefit in accordance with the charity commission guidance. It has always been the desire of the church to welcome new faces into our fellowship and to reach out as many people
THE GOOD SHEPHERD INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS UK CHARITABLE INCORPORATED ORGANISATION
as possible in our community through various activities and through the gospel to help people find spiritual faith and peace.
Governance

THE GOOD SHEPHERD INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS UK CHARITABLE INCORPORATED ORGANISATION
Report to the trustees/ members of The Good Shepherd International Missions UK on the accounts for the year ended 31st December 2022.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention
-
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act
have not been met; or
- to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

The Trustees have also examined other operational and business risks which they face and confirm that they have established systems to mitigate the significant risks.

The Trustees have considered the level of reserves they wish to retain, appropriate to the charity's needs. This is based on the charity's size and the level of financial commitments held. The Trustees aim to ensure the charity will be able to continue to fulfil its charitable objectives even if there is a temporary shortfall in income or unexpected expenditure. The trustees will endeavour not to set aside funds unnecessarily.
