FRIENDS OF LOWTHER PAVILION REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2024 The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their a¢¢ounts in accordance the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 (effective 1 January 2019}. OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES Objectives and aims The Charitys objective5 are to further the exclusive charitable purposes of the Lowther Gardens, Lytham registered charity 1117054 by the provision of assistance and support in particular to the Lowther Pavilion as the trustees shall determine. Publi¢ benefit All funds a￿ for the benefit of the Lowther Pavilion. ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE Charitable activities This year we have continued to raise funds for the theatre and, in particular towards the new performance and education centre which is expected to open in April 2025. We had a fund raising campaign which successfully raised £27,550 for the sound dask and lighting Gonsole for this new building. Thank you for all your support with this. Therè have also been 6 outdoor festivals throughout the year, which have been well supported. Totsl funds raised from these totalled £2,565.79. Thank you to everyone who helped on these days and all the donations for our stalls. We now have a dedicated events team that spend lime organising these activities, and making sur8 sufficient items are available for all crafts and tombolas. In August we held our usual 1940s dance. This was a huge suwess. with Ration Pa¢k$ being provided by Lo￿her Café again this year. Our Great British Tea Dance was held on the Sunday afternoon and due lo this selling out beforehand, we quickly organised on8 for thè Saturday aftemoon. Again. a lot of work for the organisers and voluntsers but we raised £2,436.18. The Friends have launched Classically Lowther, a small intimate afternoon concert series, featuring classical music in the Studion)ar. While it's still earfy days, the response so far has been promising. We are running at a loss, but intend to recover this with our Decemb8r 2024 Concert. Thank you again for all the organisers and volunteers who help with these events. We continue to promots new members to Friends of Lowther Pavilion. and our membership team have worf<ed hard during the year with the introduction of our membership discount card. There are currently 6 local businesses that offer the Friends a dis¢ount using this card. Thanks again for all the hard work of thé m8mb8rship team. Membership has increased in numbers by 18'A this year. Our financial donation to Lowther this y8ar was £27,550 to cover the purchase of the sound and decking system for the new education centre. Thank you again for all your 5UPPOrt During the financial year our expenditu￿ exceeded income by £7.062. FINANCIAL REVIEW R￿erVo9 policy The Trustees recognise the need to maintain reserves at £2,000 to meet the future adminislralion costs of the Charity. ResponslbllltSes and basis of rgport As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (Ihe ACYI. I report in respect of my examination of the Trusys accounts carried out under Section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under Section 145(5llb) of the Acl. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102} (effective 1 January 2019),, Financial Reporttng Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and the Charitr'es Act 2011. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. Income All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the ftjnds. it is probable that the income will be received 8nd the amount can be measured reliably. Expendlture Liabilities are recognised as expendrture as soon as there is a legal or Gonstructive obligation Gommitting the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligats'on can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an a¢¢ruals basis and has been classified under hèadings that aggregate all cost related lo the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have be8n allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resour￿s. stocks stocks are valued al the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items.
