## **Structure and Governance** 

Friends of Summers Field (FOSF) was originally set up as a Charitable Company limited by guarantee, incorporated on 29 November 2011 and registered as a charity by The Charity Commission.  In August 2022, an application was accepted by The Charity Commission to convert the Charitable Company to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). FOSF is governed by a Constitution based on the “Association Model” provided by The Charity Commission.

Mrs Lisa Williams resigned as Trustee during the year, and was replaced by Mr Paul Drayton. Trustees at the date of this report therefore are:

All trustees give their time voluntarily and receive no benefits from the charity. 

## **Objectives and Public Benefit** 

- (1) The preservation and conservation for the public benefit of the flora and fauna of Summers Field Community Orchard and wildflower meadow 

- (2) To provide Summers Field Community Orchard and wildflower meadow as a facility for recreation or other leisure time occupation for the benefit of the inhabitants of Doynton and the surrounding area in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants. 

## **FOSF Activities** 

In line with our objectives, Friends of Summers Field carried out the following activities during the year under review :- 

- Regular work parties to maintain the orchard and wildflower meadow as a facility for recreation as well as to foster the environment to encourage wildlife.. 

- 

   - Harvesting and producing apple juice from the orchard crop. 

- Organising a cream tea in the orchard to help foster good community relations, as well as to raise funds for the maintenance of the orchard. 

- 

   - Organising a function in the village hall to raise awareness of the orchard and to raise funds for the maintenance of the orchard. 

- Organising a social event in the orchard to mark the Platinum Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II, particularly aimed at encouraging the children of the village.

- Dedicating a bench in the orchard as a ‘chat bench’ with the installation of a plaque to encourage people to sit and chat. 

- Building a ‘bug house’ in the orchard to encourage wildlife and to encourage children to take an interest in the environment. 

## **Financial Summary** 

At the end of the 2021-22 Financial Year FOSF held a cash balance of **£3,018.83** . 

Income of **£2,543.41** was derived as follows :-

FOSF has no outstanding debts at 30[th] November 2022 

The Financial Statements for the period 1[st] December 2021 to 30[th] November 2022 are attached. 

## **Future Plans** 

1. To continue to develop Summers Field Community Orchard in order to preserve and conserve the flora and fauna. 

2. To hold an annual Cream Tea in the orchard as a popular community event, as well as to help raise funds for maintenance of the orchard. 

3. To provide a facility for the Doynton Village Fete on 10[th] June 2023.. 

4. To continue to harvest our crop in order to produce fruit juice. 

5. To continue to maintain the orchard to the best of our ability to make it a welcoming facility for recreation and leisure. 

6. To hold an Autumn Feast fundraiser on Saturday 14[th] October. 

7. To create some ‘test patches’ to try and increase the variety of wild flowers in the meadow. 

8. To encourage volunteers to assist in FOSF workparties. 

9. To encourage membership of FOSF to ensure continued support and funding.
