The funding landscape has dramatic811y changed due to COVID-19. It has
been challènging to identify available funding for our prKJrilies for 2022. This
is partly due to the cessation of our &yoar SAFE Th9 National Lottery Fund,
Help Through Crisis ITNLFI which ended in the period. Funding opportunities were further
compounded due lo the effects of COVID-19 dominating thè funding arena. (including TNLFI which as
a non-themed charity. we have seen fvnding opportunities decrease. This was particularly tnje for
multi-year funds those that would potentially fund us for more than one yèar. We have devéloped
funding strategy for 2021-2022 to bring us out of the pandemic and slabilise the organis8tion for Ihe

an overall increase in expenditure arKI a reduction in rental income. We maintained a careful approach
lo our ineome and expenditure and ended the period 2021 in a stable finaneial position- we are
commencing 2022 financial year with total funds available of £250.419 which includes designaled
r8seNes of £163.248 (for the Ciwp Cenlre Building) and general unreslricled funds of £57.689. Our
restricted funds of £29.482 are further supported by a Bounce Ba¢k Loan of £50.000 which remains
unspent and suppwts cash flow and the Charity's bank balance.
We are confident that we will secure the necessary funds for 2022 and beyond to continue our work
due lo our proven track record of delivery to tho$¢ who are most vulnerable and in need.

2021 has been anolherchallenging yearat FISCUS. This past year. our biggest challenge has remained
the issues and effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Financialty. despite the pandemic our Charity has
remained stable. We have developed a funding strategy for 2022 to bring us out of the pandemic and
stabilise the organisalion further. for the year ahead. The funding landscape has dramatically changed
due lo COVID-19. It has been challenging to idenlrfy availablg funding for our priorities for 2022. Thls
is partly due lo the eessation ofour &year SAFE The National Lottery Fund. Help Through Crisis (TNLFI
which enéed in the period. Funding opportunitses were further compounded due to the effects of COVID-
19 dominating the funding arena. This includes changes lo TNLF and other major funders. which
affected us as we are a non•themed charity and have seén funding OPF)Ortunities de¢￿ase. This was
particularfy true for multi-year fijnds li.e. those that would FQtentially fund us for more than one year).
Despile the finarkcial challgnges this year. the net movement in funds of1£52.473) was predominantly
due to a reduction in rental income and an overall increase in ts)th covid and general expenditure. We
have maintained a careful approach to our income and expendthjre and have ended the period 2021 in
reasonably stable financial position,. we are commencing 2022 financial year with total funds available
of £250.419 which ineludes designated reserves of £163,248 (for the Co-op Centre Building) and
general unrestricted fvnds of £57,689. Our restricted funds of £29.482 are fijrther supported by a
Bounce 8ack Loan of £50.000 which remains unspent and supports cash flow and the Charity's bank

Despite the pandemic we have maintained ow advice and crisis services and our premise$ have
remained open throughout to enable us to deliver crisis support where it is needed most. The Trustees
t¢)ok the decision alongsKle the staff. not to fudough any member of stsff from our team of staff.
FISCUS largels our work on those most disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals and families in
Héndon and wider Sunderland. Despite COVID-19, we continued lo successfully raise funds during the
year to support our core work and our planned - and unplanned. projects and activities. FISCUS staff
and volunteers maintained our thce and crisis support services by tsb8phone and face to face
throughout 2021.
One of the main financial concerns during the year. was our inabilty lo idenlfy longer-term funding
opportunities for 2021 onwards,. this was mainly dué to COVID-19 uncertainties wslh many of the major
potential grant funders who were, like everyone else. focussing on the issues and ￿$1$, people faced
due lo pandemie. Our HTC funding ended mid 2021. We need lo find altemative. longer-term funding
opportunities that will align to our existing and new ways of working. Our crisis support which lies at the
ore of all our inilialives and aetiviliès. has remained our priorty. We also need to identify short-lerm
and medium-lerm funding to develop our proiecl ideas resulting from feedback, suggestions and co-
production workshops among our service users. stsff and volunteers.
FISCUS ended 2021 financial year with £57,689 unrestricted reserves of the charity- A further £29.482
