Sandra Bastow was appointed as a Trustee in March 2021, replacing the late Anthony Page.
All new Trustees will be provided with a copy of the Governing Document (Constitution) and the most recent Trustees’ Annual Report & Financial Statements.
According to the original 2013 Fun Walk Trust Constitution article12.3 stated "A charity trustee who has served for [three] consecutive terms may not be reappointed for a [fourth] consecutive term but may be reappointed after an interval of at least [one year]". This would have meant that Christine Brewster and Sylvia Kent would have to resign as Trustees in 2022. Following a detailed discussion at the March 2021 Trustees’ meeting a Special Resolution was passed to remove this requirement and accordingly the constitution was updated and the Charity Commission informed.
## **Structure and Governance**
Governing Document Constitution Charity Constituted Charitable Incorporated Organisation Trustee Selection Appointment by election by the current trustees.
## **Summary of Objects Set Out in Constitution**
The objects of the Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) are to advance such exclusively charitable purposes as the charity trustees from time to time determine for the public benefit.
## **Main Activities**
The Fun Walk Trust (the charity) organises and runs an annual fun walk normally held at Barleylands Farm in Billericay, Essex.
The charity collects corporate donations from local businesses and distributes those donations amongst the charities and organisations participating in the fun walk.

## **Achievements During the Last Period**
Just over £90K was raised in 2021 (£26,450 from Bonus Pot sponsors and £67,388 by Fun Walkers) and was paid to 64 charities and organisations.
For 2021, in the light of the continuing challenges presented by COVID-19 and the recognition that local charities and good causes still needed our help, the decision was made to stay with a virtual format.
The event took place through September, with 92 organisations registering and an estimated two thousand participants walking to raise money for good causes.
Understandably, some of our previous sponsors were not able to contribute this year, but the donations to the Bonus Pot still allowed us to match the bonus from 2020 and add 30% to every pound raised by participating organisations. This compares to a 50% bonus paid in 2019.
In raising £90,000, this year’s walk brought the total raised since the event began in 2002 to over £1.3 Million. The beneficiaries included registered charities, local schools, community interest companies, churches and supporting groups, sports teams, resident associations and other community groups.
We will make a decision early next year, whether to return to a physical in-person event or continue with the virtual format for 2022.
## **Financial Information**
The charity holds surpluses of income from time to time in reserve until such time as the trustees give approval to expenditure plans in furtherance of the objectives
There are no material deficits in any of the charity's funds or accounts.

## **1 Bonus Monies**
The fun walking organisations received a bonus, funded from Donations Received, of approximately 30 pence for every pound raised and collected as a result of the Fun Walk 2021.
## **2 Special Reserve**
This reserve is made up of Donations Received in advance of the Fun Walk to take place in the following year.
## **3 Restricted and Unrestricted Funds**
All the funds of the charity are designated as unrestricted.

## _**Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**_
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
i) examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,
ii) to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act), and
iii) to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## _**Basis of independent examiner's statement**_
My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or dislosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair' view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
## _**Independent examiner's statement**_
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
- 1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:
- i) to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act;
- ii) to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or
- 2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
