Trustees’ Report 2020

The trustees of Amplitude Gymnastics Club present their annual report and accounts for the year ended 31 December 2020 and confirm they comply with the requirements of the Charities Act and the Charities SORP.

Our Objectives

As set out in the club’s constitution of 15 March 2013, Amplitude Gymnastics Club has three objectives.

In setting our objectives and planning our activities, our Trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit.

Amplitude Gymnastics Club was registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on April 8 2013. The club has continued to grow upon its previous success and continues to meet its objectives as set out in its Constitution.

Structure and Governance

The initial board of trustees was appointed at the time of Amplitude’s incorporation. The board includes:

The Trust continues to run with the same Trustees.

All trustees give of their time freely and no remuneration or expenses were paid for the services of the trustees during the year. One of our trustees is the coaching co-ordinator for the club and is paid for these services. The remaining trustees have a documented policy on the payment of coaches and satisfied that the payments to the coaching co-ordinator met all of the conditions of the Charities Commission. In particular:

Public Benefit

The trustees having regard for the public benefit guides published by the charity commission confirm that they run the organisation in keeping with its objectives solely for the public benefit.

A Review of 2020

During 2020, Amplitude Gymnastics Club, continued its objectives by providing numerous sessions including:

All sessions catered to a wide variety of children all within the borough of Newham and neighbouring boroughs, targeting children between the age ranges of 18months - 15 years.

The club’s Extra Curricular sessions, running independently from our school, generally had approximately 155 children attending each week. Despite this being a Covid year, this is an increase compared to 2019, showing progression and growth, as well as the continuing accessibility to and importance of the club for the children and families within Newham, during a pandemic year

AMPLITUDE IN THE COMMUNITY

CURWEN Venue - Curwen Primary school continues to actively work with Amplitude Gymnastics Club to facilitate the provision of consistent, high quality and inclusive gymnastics sessions for children in Newham, being of great collaborative support throughout the COVID 19 pandemic year.

Delivery of Amplitude Gymnastics Club - Curwen Primary School remains the one of the host venues for Amplitude Gymnastics Club’s sessions. In 2020, Amplitude catered to approximately 120 gymnasts at this venue, providing training sessions 3 times a week, running in line with the Newham school calendar, when permitted to do so in accordance to UK government guidelines regarding COVID 19 restrictions. As soon as restrictions were temporarily lifted (October – December) we resumed our classes immediately, extending training hours by 2 hours in total per week to accommodate necessary COVID guidelines and procedures regarding venue and number of gymnasts attending. This increase in training hours is something Amplitude intends to keep in place post COVID, to allow for further club expansion.

Delivery of Holiday Camps – Due to the COVID 19 pandemic restrictions in place throughout 2020, Amplitude were unable to deliver collaborative holiday club camps with Curwen Primary School. Both ourselves and Curwen, aim to be providing such clubs in coming 2021, providing government guidelines permit such activity.

KEIR HARDIE Venue

Due to both UK Government Guidelines as well as Keir Hardie Primary School COVID policies, Amplitude Gymnastics Club was unfortunately not able to return back to our Keir Hardie Venue.

We hope to have full support of this venue to resume AGC Club Sessions, Carnival Inspired Dance Sessions and Parent and Toddler Sessions to their full capacity in 2021, assuming both government and Keir Hardie COVID restrictions have been lifted.

THE JACK CARTER Venue (Frenford Clubs)

Amplitude Gymnastics Club maintained a strong relationship with Frenford throughout the pandemic year, and as of October 2020, Amplitude is no longer operating as a support role to Frenford, having now taken over the venue to be the sole permanent independent provider of gymnastics classes at the venue. This has created a significant opportunity of growth for the club and now runs as a third venue, expanding the clubs ability to reach and provide for a higher amount of children in the neighbouring borough of Redbridge.

COMPETITIONS

Spring Competition (InterClub) – Amplitude Gymnastics Club in conjunction with Perfect 10 Gymnastics Club intended run a Spring Inter Club Competition, open to all gymnasts from both clubs, hosted at our Curwen Primary Venue, including for the first time an Acrobatic discipline as well as a display team. This would have been a great collaborative event between ourselves and another club based in neighbouring local community, and we feel it would have given our gymnasts important exposure to a larger competition environment. However, due to COVID 19 restrictions, we were unable to run this event.

Summer & Winter Club Competitions 2020 (internal) – Despite planning to run both competitions this year, Amplitude was unable to host neither competitions due to COVID 19 restrictions.

British Gymnastics GFA Regional Floor & Vault Grading (external) – Despite planning to enter this year, Amplitude were unable to submit any entries into GFA this year, as COVID 19 restrictions meant that the event organisers had to cancel.

It is Amplitude’s intentions for 2021 to be back to a normal competition schedule and be both entering and hosting several competitions throughout the year.

Amplitude in Schools

Delivery of Schools Program - The Curriculum programme provided by Amplitude Gymnastics Club, where by Amplitude coaches deliver gymnastics lessons as part of a regular PE curriculum continued to run in 2020, however at a limited capacity due to COVID 19 restrictions in place. While Amplitude maintained its relationships with its 11 partner schools throughout 2020, with confirmation of return to full schedule post COVID, due to COVID restrictions in place resulting in the sporadic open and closure of primary schools, Amplitude’s delivery of its schools programme this year was restricted and reduced.

4 | P a g e

This having said, From March 2020 – December 2020, Amplitude consistently supported three of its partner schools by providing sessions for SEND and Key Worker children, throughout the pandemic, playing a key role supporting local families in the community.

Delivery of Schools Competition – Due to COVID 19 restrictions in place, Amplitude was not able to host any inter school competitions this throughout 2020.

Club Development

New School’s Co-ordinator - As well as acquiring a new venue and extending our training schedule by two hours weekly, Amplitude Gymnastics Club enhanced further its future expansive potential by appointing a Schools Coordinator. This is role created with the intention to expand Amplitude’s reach further within the education community, to establish new working relationships with potential collaborative schools.

Plans for 2021:

Due to current uncertainty caused by COVID 19 restrictions, Amplitude’s main aim for 2021 is to resume all classes successfully, aiming to be returning back to full training and competition schedules. While the club does not have the ability to devise any further plans due to the unpredictability faced with COVID, Amplitude has a variety of potential collaborations and currently halted projects which we hope to be able to bring to fruition as of 2021.

Risk

The trustees have given due consideration to the major risks to which the charity is exposed, and are satisfied that systems, policies and procedures are in place to mitigate expose to major risks.

Reserves

The trustees acknowledge the need to keep reserves in order to be able to financially manage unexpected events, such as Covid pandemic, and to be able to respond to new opportunities. The trustees seek to hold three months of operating costs in free reserves; based on the current year required free reserves total £9,000. Currently held free reserves are £2,862, calculated as Total reserves £13,028 less restricted reserves (£nil) less reseves held in Fixed Assets (£10,166) and the trustees are satisfied with progress towards the target level in the current pandemic situation

Financial Review/Going Concern

The Charity's financial transactions during the year and the financial situation at the end of the year are set out in the following accounts. The trustees have plans to address the limited level of reserves and are confident that they will be able to continue operations for the foreseeable future.

Basis of independent examiner’s report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanation s from you the trustees concerning any such matters.
