It has bean po58ible to conduct busine88 in this way despite the pandemic. Communicab'on to member8 has been via emails, Matt8rdai• Nextdoor and the web8rte. The website Is managed by HeSen Holland, a member of MCA. wth support from Andr8w Tumer, al80 8 member of MCA. Emails and Nextdoor notifications are Sent out regularly by Jane Newport, MCA Secretary. Thanks to all for their hard work and commitment. Durfng the year on8 trustee, Paddy Palm6r, was cO￿pted and that appointment confimed at the AGM. Thanks to Paddy for taking on responslbility for providing the Minute6 for Truste8 meetings. One trustee, Victoria Ble886 slofyj down 8ubsequent to thè year 8nd. Our thanks to Victoria ts her contrib )ulion to the Association. Communlty Hall Two trustees of MC& Veronica Gore and Jane Newport. have been MembeT5 of the planning group of the Matterdale School Foundation working with the Archrtects 2030 on the concept and design of th8 new Centre. The work had teen curtailed as a result of the coronavirus pandeml¢. but over the year a modified design was agreed upon by the planning group. Th8 new design was ￿￿Trted to ￿ community electronicalw and on Parish nOti￿tX)ar￿s in the Autumn 2020, and feedbad( on the new desrgn was positive overalL The Architects, working

wtth the ￿annIng group. prepared a planning application which was submitt8d to the Lake District Park Planning Department in late De￿mber 2020. A 8ignificant number of comments were received from members of the c(¥nmunity in favour of the plannirYJ application with one or I￿0 expre8sing ¢oncems or disapproval. Communlty Events Over the course of the year MCA has organised a series of event$ online, and outdoors. The ￿annIng and organisation aro undertaken by the Wirtual Villag8 Hdl Committee which is a 8ubcommitt8e of MCA. Onllne events have inGluded.' a morrthly film ¢lub'. • bi-monthly quiz.. a number of cookory ma8t8r classes., a Made in Matterdale Fair" and a number of informal gatherings. A monthty photography club was e8tablish8d. photographs were posted on a Nextdoor Group and a local person chose 8 they liked 6ach month which will go to form a Calendar for 2022. MCA has set up Nature Watth Group with the aim of understanding the flora and fauna of the valley and wkdch is sharing inforniation ￿ Cumbria Biodiversity Data Cèntre. Various walks have been organls8d which provided information on the historical, environmental, and Gultural lrfe of the valley. An outdoor weekjy frtness class has aL80 been Set up. although this had to stop for few months during the third lockdown. Two further MCA trugtees, Emma Bray and David Harrison, hav8 joined th8 MSF planning group, together wrth MCA member Mithael Reed Thi8 group has contTnued to work on the detail of the design, has employed a Quantrty Surrfeyor, undertakèn needed surveys, and congidered possible drtional funding r(xrtes. Communlty Events Coronavirus lockdown restTicbon$ began to ￿ gradually lifted from Apr 2021, but MCA continued many of its events online or on zoom untd th8 summer 2021. OnGe gatherings in FErson could take place MCA organised a successful Summer Day, a summer bake - off, and further outdoor walks. Tr steel band was able to start meettng wee￿Y again, and a quiz in the pub Is p1anr￿￿ for the end of OGtob&r. Further in person events are p1anr￿d for the rest of the year.
