REPORT) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025 The Trustees of the Aldeburgh Cinema Trust c'the Charity" and ' the Trust") present their report and financial statement5 for the year ended 31 March 2025. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance wilh the accounting policies set out in Note 110 the financial statements and comply with the Charity's Articles of Association, the Companies Ad 2006 and Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Stalement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the FinanGial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 1021 (as amended for accounting periods commencing from 1 January 2016). Objectives and activities The Charity's charitable objects are to advance education in the arts and promote knowledge, understanding and appreciation in the arts (in particular in film and relaled arts) by providing and managing a cinema and associated facilities for the public benefit in Aldeburgh and the surrounding areas. Public benefit The Trustees have due regard to Charity Commission guidance on public benefit when planning and carrying out the Cinema's aclivilies. The Trust endeavours lo meet its objects through the Cinema's broad and varied programme Isummarised below) and its educational outreach activities (see below} whilst never ignoring the need lo provide high quality entertainment as stated in our motto 'inspirational, meaningful, fun,. The core programme The core programme consisls of regular screenings of the best of worfd Cinema, mainstream releases and English and foreign language films of an art house character. There are also live transmissions of opera from the Royal Ballet & Opera House, drama from the National Theatre and elsewhere and other arts related events (such as Exhibition On Screen). making these events accessible at prices significantly lower than the live performances at the actual venues. The film history and repertory programming was expanded during the year with the following film seasons.. Brando, Clift, Dean. Method Actors & the Movies.. Found in Translation.. Contemporary World Cinema,. Saturday Night Sides; anniversary re-issues., and Hugo Max Scores Silent Cinema. Brando, Clift, Dean included an introductory talk from the cinema's programmer. Following on from last year, Ihe Found in Translation series has continued lo increase audience access lo a wide range of independenl and international films. The 2024-2025 has shown films from the following countries.. Turkey (Crossing, Aboul Dry Grasses). France (Plein SoleiD, Iran (My Favourite Cake, The Seed of rhe Sacred Fig), France, Senegal, Benin (Dahomeyl, India (All We Imagine As Light), Belgium (Soundtrack to a ¢oup d'etat) Israel I Palestine (No Other Land), Brazil (I'm Still Here), Italy (Vem7igliol. There has been a diverse range of filmmaker5 and stories on offer. In addition to 5o¢ial connection and community engagement. which are essential to the cinema's focus and remit, the project's impacl was also educational and awareness-raising and explored contemporary and l or historical issues. In the summer of 2024, the Cinema also introduced a new repertory strand of classic cult movies, Saturday Nighl Sides. Honouring the Cinema's silent era heritage, in October 2024 the Cinema hosted a special evenl, Hugo Max Scores Silent Cinema. This screening of F.W. Murnau's Nosferatu (1922) was accompanied by a live, improvised score. Further silent cinema collaborations with Hugo Max are planned for 202512026 and we are exploring the possibility of extending this in an educational context. All these screenings have generated a lot of interest and goodwill. Further initiatives seasons and events are planned. The Cinema received Film Audience NetworkJFilm Hub Southeast funding of £1,300 for the World Cinema strand, Found in Translation. The funding went to the distributors, minimum guarantees 111 x £1001 and marketing & design costs and enabled the Cinema to diversify the programme featuring eleven specially foreign language films over an eighl-monlh period. The best performing films of this strand were All We Imagine As Light (India), My Favourite Cake (Iran) and I'm Still here (Brazil).

REPORT) (CONTINUED) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025 Annual Documentary Festival The annual Aldeburgh Documentary Film Festival, eslablished in 1995, continues to be a greal success. The film screenings are usually supported by panel discussions which typically bring together the film-makers and others, often with particular experience and expertise in the area covered by the film. Cinema as a centre for community and arts related activities The Cinema makes its facilities available for local community events such as premieres of locally prodUd films. special screenings with regional relevance and charity shows. It has sUPPOrted young local filmmakers by screening their films ahead of new releases and giving iheir work exposure. It has provided a venue for East Suffolk Arts Society lectures, film 5hows/presenlalions for the Aldeburgh Music Festival and Aldeburgh Literary Festival and screenings for the Aldeburgh Business Association. In November 2024, Ihe cinema hosted the Poetry in Aldeburgh Festival. The Cinema also hosted the BFI London Film Festival with a screening of the National Geographic Documentary, Enéurance. This event sold out and the cinema held the #2 slol in the UK on the night of its UK-wide release, second only to the London Festival's host venue. Educational outreach The Trust is developing a range of activilies lo encourage filmmaking and film appreciation by people of all ages, with a particular focus on local educational institutions, including Aldeburgh Primary School_ Documentaries made by pupils al the Primary School wefe screened in July 2024. The Cinema also hosted a free end-of-term film screening for the school al Christmas 2024. Further filmmaking and literacy projects are being developed with the school with screenings of pupils, films scheduled for July 2025. Achievements and perforniance The Cinema now carries out the screen programming inhouse which has helped profitability and gives additional flexibility in organising the programme and limelable, capitalising on awards-nominated films such as... Lee, Blitz, ConGlav6, Anora, A Complet6 Unknown, A Real Pain, The Brutalisf, as well as mainslream releases such as Gladialor11, Bridget Jones and 8laGk Bag.

REPORT (INCLUDING DIRECTORS, REPORT) (CONTINUED) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025 Financial review The Charity has maintained its relalively slrong financial position due to the historical, relatively subslanlial, reserves held. The net overall result for the year was an operaling surplus of £14,000: compared lo the previoLts year's break- even position. Film income grew predominantly due lo an increase in ti¢ket sales. Agile screen timing and film programming choices entld audiences back inlo the cinema. Support continued from the Friends of Alijeburgh Cinema, combined with other donations, to generate £34,000 of additional funds in the year. Costs increased by £24,000. As at 31 March 2025 the Charity had £270:000 of cash. The Trustees consider it appiopriale lo continue the policy of maintaining a general reserve of an amount equivalent to three monlhs overheads. With annual overheads of around £375,000 in a normal year the targel reseTve is £94,000. The Tfustees have assessed Ihe major risks to which the Charity is exposed, and are salisfied that systems are in place lo mitigate exposure to these risks. Unrestricted funds and Restricted funds The Charity holds both Unreslricled Funds (funds which are generally available for use by the Trustees) and Reslricled Funds (funds which are subiect lo conditions by the donors). At 31 March 2025 the Charity had £33,000 of Restricted Funds (to be used for the purposes set out in Note 181 and £274,000 of Unrestricted Funds (of which £7,000 has been designated for the repair, maintenance and long-term security of the cinema building). Structure, governance and management Aldeburgh Cinema Trust is a chafilable company limited by guarantee, incorporaled on 5 February 2013 (in England & Wales) and regislered as a charity on 27 Mafch 2013. The Charity is governed by ils Articles of Association which sel out ils objects and powers. In the evenl of the Charity being wound up the Members are required lo contribute an amount not exceeding £1 each. The Trustee5 of the Charity, of whom there must be at least five and not more than twelve, are its Members and also Ils Directors foi the purposes of company law. One third lor Ihe number nearest one Ihirdl of the Trustees musl retire at each Annual General Meeting, those serving longest retiring first and the choice behveen any of equal service being made by drawing lots. A retiring Trustee may be reappointed. Trustees are recruiled from the local community and are selected to ensure that the Charity benefits from a broad range of relevant skills and expertise on the board. REPORT (INCLUDING DIRECTORS, REPORT) (CONTINUED) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025 The Trustees have ultimate responsibility for the governance and direction of the Charity and ensuring that it meets its charitable objects for the public benefit. They are also responsible for compliance with slatulory and regulatory obligations. The day-lo-day management of the Cinema is looked after by the General Manager. The Trustees hold regular board meetings, attended by the General Manger, at which they agree strategic obieclives, approve business plans and budgets, monitor financial and operational performance, and review staffing policies and proviSon. In addition, they review the risk register and amend risk management piocedures where necessary. The General Manager is able to turn lo individual Trustees with special fesponsibility for support in fund-raising, finance, staffing, programming and other fields. Trustees Responsibilities The Trustees, who are also the directors of Aldeburgh Cinema Trust for the purpose of company law, are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Report and the financial statements in accordan with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards {Uniled Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice). Company law requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the stale of affairs of the Charity and of the incoming resources and application of resourcEs, including the income and expenditure, of the Charity for that year. In preparin9 these financial statements, the Trustees are required to.. select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently., observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP,. make judgements and estimales that are reasonable and prudent- stale whether applicable UK Accounting Stsndards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements,. and prepare the financial statements on Ihe going concern basis unless it is inappropriate lo presume that the Charity will continue in operation. The Trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of Ihe Charity and enable them to ensure that the financial slalemenls comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other iiregularilies. The registered office is 51 High Street, Aldeburgh, IP15 SAU. 1.1 Accounting convention The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Ihe charity's governing document, the Companies Act 2006 and "Accounting and Reporling by Charilies.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities prepaiing their accounts in arxordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in Ihe UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102)" (as amended for accounting periods commencing from 1 January 2016). The charity is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102. The charity has taken advantage of Ihe provisions in the SORP for charilies applying FRS 102 Update Bullelin 1 not to prepare a Statemenl of Cash Flows. The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the charity. Monelary amounts in these financial statements are rounded lo the nearest £. The financial statements have been prepared under the hislorical cost convention. The principal accounting policies adopted are set out below. 1.2 Going concern Al Ihe time of approving the financial statements, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the charity has adequate reSoUrS to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus the Irustees continue lo adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial slalements. 1.3 Charitable funds Unrestricte(J funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of their charitable objectives. Designated funds comprise funds which have been sel aside at the discretiors of the trustees for specifi¢ purposes. Restrscted funds are subject to specific condition5 by donors or grantors as to how they may be used. The purposes and uses of the restricted funds are set out in the notes to the financial statements. Endowment funds are subject to specific conditions by donors that the capital must be maintained by the charity. 1A Income Income is recognised when the charity is legally entitled to it after any perfomiance conditions have been mel, the amounts can be measured reliably, and it is probable thal income will be received. Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other doriations are recognised once the charity has been nolified of the donation. unless performance conditions require deferral of the amounl. Income tax recoverable in relation lo donation5 received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is recognised at the time of the donation. Legacies are re¢ognised on reIpl or otherwise if the charity has been notified of an impending dislribulion, the amount is known, and receipt is expected. If the amount is not known. the legacy is treated as a contingent asset.

Expenditure includes VAT where this cannot be fully recovered, and is reported as part of the expenditure lo which it related. Charitable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the Charily in the delivery of its aclivilies to ils beneficiaries. It includes both costs that can be allocated directly lo such activities and those costs of an indirect nature ne$Sary lo support them. 1.6 Tangible fixed assets Tangible fixed asse15 are initially measured al cosl and subsequently measured at cost or valuation, net of depreciation and any impairment losses. The investments are assesseij for impairment at each reporting dale and any impairment losses are recognised immediately in profit or loss. 1.8 Impairmenl of fixed assets At each reporting end dale, the charity reviews the carrying amounts of its tangible as5els to determine whether there is any indication that those assets have suffered an impairment loss. If any such indication exisls, the recoverable amount of the asset is estimated in order to delermine Ihe extent of the impairment loss (if any). 1.9 Stocks Stocks are slated al the lower of cost and estimated selling pri. Net realisable value is the estimated selling pri less all estimated costs of completion and costs to be incurred in marketing, seS1ing and distribulion. 1.10 Cash and cash equivalents Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, deposits held al call with banks, other short-term liquid investments with original malurilies of three months or less, and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown within borrowings in current liabilities. 1.11 Financial instruments The charity has elected to apply the provisions of Section 11 '8asic Financial Instruments, and Section 12 'Olher Financial Instruments Issues, of FRS 102 lo all of its financial instrumenls. Financial instruments are recognised in the charily's balance sheet when the Gharily becomes party lo the contraclual provisions of the insliument. Financial assets and liabilities are offset, with Ihe nel amounls presented in the financial slatements, when there is a legally enforceable right to set off the recognised amounts and there is an inlenlion to settle on a net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneously.

Financial assets lassified as re1vable within one year are nol amortised. Basic financial liabilities Basic financial liabililies, including creditors and bank loans are initially recognised at transaction price unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction. where the debt instrument is measured at Ihe present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial liabilities classified as payable within one year are not amortised. Debt instruments are subsequently carried al amortised cost, using the effective interest rale method. Trade creditors are obligations lo pay for goods or services that have been acquired in the ordinary course of operations from suppliers. Amounts payable are dassified as current liabilities if payment is due within one year or less. If not, they are presented as non-currenl liabilities. Trade creditors are recognised initially at transaction price and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method. Derecognition of financial liabilities Financial liabilities are derecognised when the charity'5 contractual obligalions expire or are discharged or cancelled. 1.12 Employee benefits The cost of any unused holiday entitlement is recogni5ed in the period in which the employee's services are received. Termination benefits are recognised immediately as an expense when Ihe charity is demonstrably committed lo terminate the employmenl of an employee or lo provide lermination benefits. 1.13 Retirement benefits Payments to defined contribution retiremenl benefit schemes are charged as an expense as they fall due. Critical accounting estimates and judgements In the applicalion of Ihe charity's accounting policies, Ihe truslees are required to make judgemenls, eslimales and assumptions about Ihe carrying amount of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other sources. The estimates and associated assumptions are based on historical experience and olher factors that are considered lo be relevanl. Actual results may differ from these estimates. The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting estimates are recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affects only that period, or in the period of the fevision and future periods where the revision affects both current and future periods. 10-
