Para 1.38 RTC Sports is very grateful to volunteers who assist in the
operation of the Centre. In particular, the youth project benefits
significantly from the presence of adult volunteers who assist in
the supervision and support of the young people present.
Volunteers also play an important role in the maintenance of the
playing field and grounds.

The centre continued to be well used after the lifting of
restrictions surrounding the Covid -19 pandemic

The weekly youth club (North Tyne Youth) continued to
thrive under the leadership of Youth Development
Worker Lisa Robinson.

We continued to safely and effectively maintain the
building and sports field for their intended uses.

The centre was vastly improved with new flooring in the
lounge area and corridor, new tables and chairs in the
lounge and Hotdesk Office, new toilets, cubicles and
basins, 2 baby-changing tables and a new Caretaker’s
sink, along with redecoration of most doors and walls.

Netball continued to thrive with good attendance.

Apart from Regular activities of 2020 (Low Impact,
Netball and Gym,) we started new regular weekly
activities: Tai Chi, Table Tennis, and 5-a-side football.

Other events and activities: Intergenerational Café (4
sessions), Sports Holiday Camp for under 18, Tennis
Coaching for junior and senior participants, Junior
Football, one session for refugee teenagers organised
by Newcastle University, one session of Stargazing and
one end-of-season Table Tennis event in December,
when we invited the Hepple village team to the RTC.

Restricted reserves are those funds that are earmarked

Aims and Constraints
RTC Sports Ltd aims to retain sufficient financial
reserves to protect against failure to meet
fundraising targets, unforeseen costs and general

adopted for the induction and
training of trustees
Para 1.51 Several of the current members of the management
committee were recruited in the summer of 2014 when
RTC Sports took over the operation of The RTC Sports
and Leisure Centre from the unincorporated charity, The
Rede Tyne and Coquet Society. All members of the
local community were invited to attend a meeting and
express interest in becoming trustees. Since then,
additional trustees have been co-opted to the committee
in order to add capacity and bring in additional skills.
Prospective trustees are invited to attend a number of
committee meetings as observers prior to formal co-
option. All new trustees are provided with copies of the
Charity Commission publication ‘The Essential Trustee’
together with the minutes of recent meetings. They are
also given a tour of the Centre.

Note 2 Accounting policies

2.2 INCOME
Recognition of income These are included in the Statement of Financial Activities (SoFA) when:
• the charity becomes entitled to the resources;
• it is more likely than not that the trustees will receive the resources;
• the monetary value can be measured with sufficient reliability.
Offsetting There has been no offsetting of assets and liabilities, or income and expenses, unless
required or permitted by the FRS 102 SORP or FRS 102.
Grants and donations Grants and donations are only included in the SoFA when the general income recognition
criteria are met (5.10 to 5.12 FRS102 SORP).
In the case of performance related grants, income must only be recognised to the extent
that the charity has provided the specified goods or services as entitlement to the grant
only occurs when the performance related conditions are met (5.16 FRS 102 SORP).
