Through these adoptions, as well as rehoming dogs, we take the opportunity to educate members of the public on animal welfare issues. We hope that with strong promotion of animal welfare issues we can help prevent suffering of animals in the future. Through various public events we also promote animal welfare as well as promoting dog rescue in general. You **may choose** to include further statements, where relevant, about: - policy on grantmaking; - policy programme related investment; - contribution made by volunteers. **TAR** March **2012** 3 Section D Achievements and performance ## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** Throughout 2020/2021 the COVID-19 pandemic impacted on the rescue as it did the rest of society as a whole. It was difficult to predict what may happen in respect of the volume of lost/abandoned dogs throughout this period but we experienced a reduction in the number of dogs coming into our care. Limited rehoming recommenced in May 2020 following DEFRA approval and we adapted our adoption process accordingly. Throughout the rest of the period we had limited rehoming of dogs and continued to see fewer dogs taken into our care. This impacted considerably on our adoption donation funds and the COVID restrictions meant there we no fund raising events Fortunately our funds were significantly boosted by an online fundraising auction by a charity supporter which raised around £36,500 and a £10,000 legacy which offset our loss in adoption donations and general fund raising.
