The trustees present their annual report and financial statements of the charity for the year
ended 30 April 2024. The financial statements have been prepared in occordance with the
charity's trust deed. the Charities Act 2011 and Accounting and Reporting by Charities.,
Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in
accordance with the Financial Reportin9 Standard applicoble in the UK.

The purpose of the Educational charity is to provide grants to students having a home address in
Sudbury, Suffolk or having attended St. Gregory C.E.V.C. Primary School, Church Street,
Sudbury, Suff olk for o period of at least two years and be over the age of 18 and under the age

of 21 at 30 September in the year that the 9rant IS given (changed to those over the age of 16
and under the age of 21 at I" September for the 9rnnts applications for 2024 onwards).

The Trustees are pleased to report that the Chority is now on a firm footing to meet post Covid
challenges with a settled rental income of £25.000 p.a. Although strictly not within the year
under review, there is a positivity within the ranks of the trustees. new and old, to expand the
scope of the 9rant aid distributions to youThJer persons. Next year's report will show whether
we have been Sutcessful in our endeavours.
This year, we were able to distribute £21.OCX) to students who are moving on to further
education ond £3,500 wos passed over to 'the school, to aid them on an exciting music project -
again, more on that possibly next year.
In accordance with tradition. the income from the Relief in Need Charity, of £382.22 will be
paid over to the Thomos Carter Charity who have similar aims to our Charity avoiding additional
administrative costs
Financial review
The reserves within the charity are maintained to provide 9rants for educatiornl purposes.
Unrestricted general f unds at the year-end amounted to £88.289.
The charity has restricted reserves for Girlin9 Relief in Need Charity which amount to £10,885.
This is used for relieving persons resident in Sudbury who ore in conditions of need, hardship, or
distress.

inancial statements
The charity trustees are responsible for preparin9 a trustees, annual report ond financial
statements in accordance with opplicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United
Kingdom Generally Accepted Accountirg Practice).
The law applicable to charities in Errfjland and Woles requires the chority trustees to prepare
f inancial statements for each year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the
charity ond of the incoming resources ond application of resources. of the charity for that period.
In preparirg the f inancial statements. the trustees are required to:
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently.,
observe the methods and principles in the applicable Charities SORP..
make jud9ements and estimates that are reasoThible and prudent:
state whether applicable accounting Standards have been followed, subject to any material
departures that must be disclosed and explained in the f inancial statements,,
prepare the f inancial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume
that the charity will continue in business.
The trustees ore responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable
accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the
f inancial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the applicable Charities (Accounts and
Reports) Re9ulations. and the provisions of the Trust deed. They are also responsible for
safeguardin9 the assets of the charity and taki￿ reasonable steps for the prevention and
detection of f raud and other irregularities.
The trustees are responsible for the mainteTh)nce and integrity of the charity and f inantiol
information in accordance with legislation in the United Kingdom governing the preparation and
dissemination of financial statements.

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended
th
30 April 2023 which are set out on pages 5 to 8.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charitls trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with
the requirements of the Charities Act 20111'the Act,).
I report in respect of my examination of the chariws accounts carried out under section 145 of the
Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the
Charity Commission under section 145{5llbl of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in
connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act,
or
the accounts do not accord with those records; or
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content
of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any
requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fairf view which is not a matter considered as
part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to
which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the
accounts to be reached.
