The CIO was established under a (eg. trust deed, constitution) Foundation Constitution dated 2nd March 2013. Charitable Incorporation Organisation (CIO) How the charity is constituted (eg. trust, association, company) Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed for a Trustee selection methods term of three years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting (eg. appointed by, elected by) of the charity trustees. In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. - (eg. trust, association, company) ## **Additional governance issues (Optional information)** You **may choose** to include additional information, where relevant, about: - policies and procedures adopted for the induction and training of trustees; - the charity’s organisational structure and any wider network with which the charity works; - relationship with any related parties; - trustees’ consideration of major risks and the system and procedures to manage them. ## **Section C Objectives and activities** **Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document** The CIO’s objects as set out in its constitution are: “To advance the education of the public in the spiritual and philosophical traditions underlying western civilisation as embodied especially in the teaching of the key pre-Socratic Greek philosophers and spiritual teachers Pythagoras, Parmenides and Empedocles”. **TAR** March **2012** 2 Throughout 2023 our aim has been to further our primary objective of promoting the teachings of the pre-Socratics to a far broader and more diverse audience than has hitherto been possible. **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** Following the publication of Peter Kingsley’s ground-breaking twovolume work ‘Catafalque’ in 2018, the preservation of Dr Kingsley’s legacy has been one of our highest priorities. In addition to the production of various audio and video recordings centring on the legacy of the preSocratics, Dr Kingsley published a new work in 2021; A Book of Life, which was well received. He also published a paperback edition of Catafalque and he continues to work on a further book. This should be more than sufficient to support The Primordial Foundations planned objectives in 2024.
