Other Achievements and Performance SORP reference Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity's work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. Para 1.20 Hambledon Nursery School has had a successful 2024/25 year, once again fully meriting its 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating, which was reconfirmed following Ofsted's latest inspection visit in September 2025. The underlying strengths of the school - the ability and dedication of its teaching and administrative staff and focus on the individual care provided to each child - have enabled the school to thrive in an often challenging environment. The UK Government's drive to encourage parents to return to work has led to an increase in the daycare sector and the addition of nursery classes to many schools offering access to breakfast clubs and provision of wraparound care and afterschool clubs, leading to a squeeze on independent smaller settings, such as Hambledon. However, we are developing our presence on social media to showcase that our offering and standard of provision remains strong, desirable and outstanding. We conformed closely throughout the year with all the various requirements and guidelines, strongly supported by parents and carers. There was a focus on our 'Safeguarding and Wellbeing' policy and all Trustees completed training in this area during the year. We continue to make the most of the extensive outdoor area we have available and run 'empty classroom' sessions whenever possible, with Forest School style inspired learning, water play opportunities and music stations all conducted in the fresh air. We also benefitted from the quality and flexibility of the classrooms and facilities in our Victorian building, which remains well maintained. Over the year all the children in our care were looked after with provision tailored to each individual's needs, with families kept appraised of progress. We maintained our inclusive ethos and cared for a number of special needs children throughout the year. The school is an important part of the village community and is highly valued by it. The school also has strong

links with the village church, while remaining inclusive to all. We remain in a healthy position financially through responsible financial management. We believe that maintaining our outstanding offering will keep demand high over time and efficient cost control will maintain our reserves, whilst maintaining our facilities to a high standard and supporting our excellent staff. Without taking anything for granted we are confident that the school's wide range of strengths will continue to serve us well over the coming years. Financial Review Review of the charity's financial position at the end of the period Para 1.21 Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held Para 1.22 Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 The school recorded a deficit of around £4,600, having shown a surplus of around f5,500 in the prior year. The school is in a strong financial position, with healthy levels of net assets and cash. This allowed various capital and maintenance projects to be undertaken in the year, in particular re-surfacing the car park, and purchasing outdoor equipment and resources. Reserves are held for capital investment, in particular to maintain our Victorian building and grounds, to cover short-term spikes in operational cashflows, including supporting key stakeholders (such as special needs pupils, parents and staff, as appropriate); and as a safety net for a sudden downturn in financial performance, such as an adverse change in funding arrangements or in demographic features. As per the most recently filed Accounts the school's surplus reserves are around £90,000, represented by the cash balances held less working capital requirements. These reserves represent around one third of annual operating costs. Reasons for holding zero Para 1.22 reserves Details of fund materially in Para 1.24 deficit Explanation of any Para 1.23 uncertainties about the charity continuing as a going concern Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements where relevant about: The principal sources of funds are the Early Years funding support from Surrey County The charity's principal sources of funds (including any fundraising) Council, childcare vouchers used by parents, and fees received from parents, in particular Para 1.47 from those whose children do not qualify for funding.
