The David Randall Foundation was conceived by members of Maldon
Cricket Club In February 2012 when David Randall (aged 27), a member
of the club since the age of 6, was diagnosed as having terminal cancer It
was set up in February 2013 following his death in July 2012 David was a
talented sportsman and musician who bravely dealt with his terminal
Illness, living life to the full right up until he died
There are two separate aims of the charity
To support young people who live In Essex, Suffolk or the London
Borough of Havering, who demonstrate exceptional dedication and
passion In pursuing their ambitions in sport or music but may be
held back by their financial situation
To support people living In Essex with life limiting Illnesses for
whom extra support would give opportunities to enjoy life to the full
for as long as possible

Section C
Objectives and activities
Our charity's objects as set out In our Trust Deed are
To advance In life and help young people through the provision of
support to enable them to advance their education and develop their
skills, capacities and capabilities In activitses which they could not
otherwise afford
The relief of sickness among people with life limiting Illnesses living
In Essex by such means as the trustees may determine, In particular
but not exclusively, by the provision of recreational activities In the
interests of social welfare with the object of improving their
conditions of life
Summary ofthe objects ofthe
charlty set out in its
governing document
How our services deliver public benefit
We provide a unique Servi￿ to people with life limiting illnesses who
live in Essex, by organising a series of outings for them to look
forward to throughout their Illness Each applicant has their own
ambassador who organises their outings and keeps In touch with the
family
We have amended our objectives, so that we can give Good Days,
not only to people with life limiting Illnesses, but also to members of
their families who may be In need of some respite
We are working with five Essex hospices, CLIC Sargent charity,
Southend Hospital Palliative Care Oncology department and an
Increasing number of individual doctors to try and ensure that
everyone who could benefit from the David Randall Foundation
knows about the charity Ambassadors and hospice staff liaise
regularly to ensure our applicants receive the best possible care and
that their outings are organised with their unique needs In mind
We work In co-ordination with local businesses, Plume Academy
and Maldon Cricket Club to promote the David Randall Foundation
We have forged a link with Maldon CVS which gives advice and
provides links to people In need In the Maldon District
Our grants for music and sport give opportunities to young people
who may not othewise be able to afford to maximise their talent
Due to the fact that we are a small local charity run entirely by
volunteers we are regularly contacted by hospices who ask us to
provide an outing or treat for someone who has Just weeks or even
days to live It Is our privilege to be able to organise these outings
promptly
In making all these decisions the trustees have had regard to the
guidance issued by the Charity Commission concerning Public
Benefit
Summary of the main
activities undertaken for the
public benefit in relation to
these objects (include within
this section the statutory
declaration that trustees have
had regard to the guldance

Achievements and performance
At our June 2023 AGM under the terms of our Deed Trust all of
the family trustee members were up for re-election All the
trustees were willing to be elected for a further term and were duly
voted In Since that AGM one of the trustees has died and at
2024s AGM we began positively seeking new trustees
Summary of the maln
achievements of the charity
during the year
The year to March 2024 was a quieter one for the David Randall
Foundation as many of the applicants for Good Days applied very
late In their Illness and did not live long enough to have outings
During the coming year we will be contacting all the Institutions
who refer applicants to us to discuss how applicants can be put In
touch with us sooner However a record number of scholarship
applications were received
In February 2024 we awarded a scholarship to a flautist and
Inspirational Awards to a figure skater, a tennis player and a
sailor
We decided to sponsor members of Essex County Cricket Club's
disability team
We continue to monitor the defibrillators we have Installed in the
local area and where there Is deemed to be a need will consider
further purchases
Our annual Rock Up For Randall fundraiser was well supported
and made a profit In excess of £8,000
Running our Santa Fun Run as a community event has proved so
successful that we decided to continue with this.
We were fortunate to receive financial support from a number of
local clubs and societies, resulting in a significant Increase In our
Income for the year
