The trustees, who are directors for the purposes of company law, present their strategic report for the year ended 31 August 2024, in compliance with s414C of the Companies Act 2006. 

## **PLANS FOR THE FUTURE PERIODS** 

Bromley by Bow Community Organisation (BBBCO) is committed to building on its well-established community presence and proactively adapting to the changing needs of residents. Our future plans include: 

- Strengthening our core community services including youth programmes, health initiatives, and educational activities with a focus on long-term sustainability, inclusivity, and measurable outcomes. 

- Expanding our reach to ensure greater engagement with underrepresented and vulnerable groups across the local estates. 

- Actively pursuing diverse funding opportunities to support the growth of our service delivery and maintain operational resilience, including leveraging our recent ISO 9001:2015 certification to strengthen governance and audit processes. 

## **AIMS AND KEY OBJECTIVES FOR FUTURE PERIODS** 

BBBCO aims to deepen its impact within the Bromley by Bow area by continuing to prioritise the wellbeing, skills, and inclusion of local people. Our key objectives for the coming period include: 

- Enhancing existing services that support education, employment readiness, and mental and physical well-being, particularly for young people and families. 

- Strengthening collaboration with local stakeholders, housing associations, and service providers to amplify community voice and deliver joined-up support. 

- Developing sustainable income streams through strategic partnerships, grant funding, and commissioned projects that align with our mission and values.

## Trustees’ Report 

for the Year Ended 31 August 2024 

The trustees, who are directors for the purposes of company law, present the annual report together with the financial statements of the charitable company for the year ended 31 August 2024. 

## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES** 

The principal activity of the company in the year under review was that of charitable organisation. Its primary objective is to support the community by providing charitable and support initiatives. 

## **PUBLIC ACTIVITIES** 

Activities undertaken to further public benefit during the year encompassed a wide range of initiatives that improve the well-being of the community. Examples included running weekend activities club, ladies isolation support projects, youth football teams and holiday activities for children during half-term and summer breaks. 

The trustees confirm that they have complied with the requirements of section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

## **Reserve policy** 

BBBCO maintains a reserves policy to ensure continued financial stability and safeguard its core services during periods of income fluctuations. The Trustees aim to accumulate reserves equivalent to 6 month of its core operating cost which is subject to annual review.

## **Statement of trustees' responsibilities** 

The trustees (who are also the directors of BROMLEY BY BOW COMMUNITY ORGANISATION (BBBCO) for the purposes of company law) are responsible for preparing the trustees' report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice), including FRS 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland". 

Company law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year. Under company law the trustees must not approve the financial statements unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charitable company and of the incoming resources and application of resources, including its income and expenditure, of the charitable company for that period. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to: 

- select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently; 

- observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP; 

- make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; 

- state whether applicable accounting standards, comprising FRS 102 have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and 

- prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charitable company will continue in business. 

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that can disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charitable company _and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charitable company and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. 

The trustees are responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the corporate and financial information included on the charitable company's website. Legislation governing the preparation and dissemination of financial statements may differ from legislation in other jurisdictions.

The company is entitled to exemption from audit under Section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 for the year ended 31 August 2024. 

The members have not required the charity to obtain an audit of its financial statements for the year ended 31 August 2024 in accordance with Section 476 of the Companies Act 2006. 

The directors acknowledge their responsibilities for: 

- (a) ensuring that the company keeps accounting records which comply with Sections 386 and 387 of the Companies Act 2006 and 

- (b) preparing financial statements which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the company as at the end of each financial year and of its profit or loss for each financial year in accordance with the requirements of Sections 394 and 395 and which otherwise comply with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 relating to financial statements, so far as applicable to the company.

## 1. **STATUTORY INFORMATION** 

BROMLEY BY BOW COMMUNITY ORGANISATION (BBBCO) is a private company, limited by shares, registered in England and Wales. The company's registered number and registered office address can be found on the Company Information page. 

## 2. **ACCOUNTING POLICIES** 

## **Basis of preparing the financial statements** 

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" including the provisions of Section 1A "Small Entities" and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. 

## **Turnover** 

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes. 

## **Goodwill** 

Goodwill, being the amount paid in connection with the acquisition of a business in 0, is being amortised evenly over its estimated useful life of nil years. 

## **Intangible assets** 

Intangible assets are initially measured at cost. After initial recognition, intangible assets are measured at cost less any accumulated amortisation and any accumulated impairment losses. 

## **Tangible fixed assets** 

Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life. 

## **Taxation** 

Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. 

Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted. 

Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date. 

## **Deferred tax** 

Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date. 

Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference. 

Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.
