The Trustees present their report for the year ended 29 February 2024 to be read in Conjunction with the attached
Financial Sthtements.
The Financial Ststements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the CompaDies A¢1 2006, the Memorandum and
Articles of Association, and Accounting and Reporting by Cbarities: Statement of Recommended PTactice
applicable to charities PTeparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in
the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective l January 2015).
Strueture & governan¢¢
The company was incory)orated as a Private Company Limited by Guarantee on I l February 201 J.
The objects of the Company are:
A) To promote Japanese culture to the public through the organisation of an event.
B) To promote learning and advance education in the subject of Japan; and
C) To carry on activities which benefit the community related to Japan.
Main &ctlvity and pub15c benefit
The main activities are funding, organising and promoting the annual festival event called "JAPAN MATSURr'
and a chcny tree planting project. The festival event is open to and attended by members of thc public, and
¢beTry trees are planted in the UK lo celebrate a new era of UK-Japan friendship and co-operalion.
Revlew of the year
The ￿MPanY had a very successfijl festival event"JAPAN MATSUR[ 2023" in London on l October 2023 in
Trafalgar Square. The company continued to plant cherry trees in parks, garden5, and school5, including Royal
Parks.

Income amounted to £166,041 (Last year.. £ l O.OQO). Expenditure amounted to £203,928 (Last year..
£32,964). The deficit of £37,888 (Last y¢Ar'. defici¢ of £22,964) was added to the reserve5.
Reserves
It is the TNstees' policy lo secure fi￿d$ for each year's festival at an early stage and as much as possible from
IArgc number of companies. In addition. they aim to maintain sufficient reserves to cover unforeseen fluctuations
in income and expendifure.

financial system and governance structyre, and to review and make fvrther improvements as appropriafr.

The company aims to organise the annual festival event"JAPAN MATSURJ." During thi5 financial year,
"JAPAN MATSURJ 2023" was successfijlly held on l October 2023. Subsequent to the balance sheet date. the
next festival was held on 6 October 2024.
The ¢ompany continues its collaboration with the Japan-British Society in Tokyo and the Sakura Chery Tree
Project Committee in the UK to support the planting of chery blossom (Sakura) trees at various locations across

Th¢ trustees (who are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company law) are responsible for the
prep&Tation of the accounts. The trnstee5 con5idcr that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2)
of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
Having satisfied myself thal the charity is not subjecl to audit under company law and is ¢li8ible for independent
examination, it 1$ our responsibility to:
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act:
follow the pro¢edures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under
section 145 (5) (b) of the 2011 Act. and
state whether particular matters have come to our attention.

Our examination was wried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission.

The main activities are funding, organising and promoting the annual festival event called "JAPAN MATSURr'
and a chcny tree planting project. The festival event is open to and attended by members of thc public, and
¢beTry trees are planted in the UK lo celebrate a new era of UK-Japan friendship and co-operalion.

The ￿MPanY had a very successfijl festival event"JAPAN MATSUR[ 2023" in London on l October 2023 in
Trafalgar Square. The company continued to plant cherry trees in parks, garden5, and school5, including Royal
Parks.

It is the TNstees' policy lo secure fi￿d$ for each year's festival at an early stage and as much as possible from
IArgc number of companies. In addition. they aim to maintain sufficient reserves to cover unforeseen fluctuations

Having satisfied myself thal the charity is not subjecl to audit under company law and is ¢li8ible for independent
