provide advice via lelephone and WhatsApp on rgquèst.

Hodan has maintained ts Advice and Information
Servi￿, providing services in the AQS Subject-Based
Categories of Wemare Beneffts. Housing and
Employment. and the Client-Based Categories of
Disabilty. Older People. Refvgees andAsylum Seekers,
and Women. In addits'on to these specific categorles, we
also provided advice relating to local services. education
and trainin9, confidenc&building. social integration, and
other related matter5. As in previous years, we have
continued to offer Mental Health First Aid and
Motivational Interviewing alon9side the regular advice
provisFon. This has enabled us to continue SUPPOrting
people suffeAng from mental health issues. induding
depression. anxiety, stress and loss of confidence.
especially in the context of post-COVID unemployment or
bereavement. We handled a total of 751 cases in
2022123. corresponding to 294 di•nts.
In 2022123 increased our fcKJJs on income
maximisation, by supporting people to apply for welfare
benefits and other govemment support packages
provided to help people through the cost-of-living crisis.

language and literacy barriers, many of our service users
were unaware that th6r6 was additional support available
to help them keep up with energy bills and other basic
needs. We supported 118 service users to claim their
entitlements in 2022123 and succe8d8d in getting a total

unclaimed ~ into the bank accounts of people in dlre
The Befriending Servic& worked with a totsl of 41 elderly
dients in 2022123, some by teleph£￿e and others face to
fac£. ThrowJh the ARISE (Actively Reduqng Isolation for
Seniors) project funded by the National Lottery Reaching
Communities Fund, we provided 20 more people with a
drgrtal device (smartphone or tablet) and basic training in
how to use it, in addition to the 25 who had re￿IVed a
device through Hodan in previous years. Over tha course
of the year, we had seven short-term volunteers, three
medium-term volunteers and three staff members tralnlng
a total of 66 people in Digrtsl Lrteracy Skills. Service users
greaty appreclated these sessions, in which they leamed
how to accesg the Intemat and use a vanety of online
servjces, induding ￿Mall. GP appoinknents. WhatsApp,
ZcK)m. and ioumey p￿nDIng.
Our Social Space arKI Wellbeing Project is continuing via
Zumba on Zoom (Iwo sessions per week) and in-person
sessions at INhite Cty Community Centre (lTho per week,
comprising one Zumba dass and one Chair-Based
ExeTCiS6 dass for older

mobility). A total of 107 separate individuals attended at
least one session during the year. with a core group of 62
attending regularty.
Hodan se￿red one new grant in 2022123 (£25.000 from
the Postcode Society TnLSt) and has successfully
reached Stage 2 wtth a large application to the City
Bridge Trust 'Bridging Divides. programme for a total of
£185,425 over five years. We have completed an in-
person assessment and are hoping that a F)osilive
outcome wrll be announced soon. There are hvo other
applications in wogress. respectively to Trusthouse
Charitable Foundation (£100,000 over three years) and
Drapers Charitable Foundation (£14,971 as a oneknoff
grant). We are also intending to submit to the Mrs Smith
and Mount Trust when they re￿pen applications.
Regrettably, the Fi8hmongers Charitable Trust and
Lond￿ Freemasons. Charity, for which we had drafted
bids. are not currently ac&gPilng applications. We will

Zoom. to the ability to plan a joumey using maps and
transport apps. Service us8rs also reported using their

them a slgnFficant amount of time in comparison to
waiting in the call qu8ue). As before, service users also
reported improved mental and physical health resulting

Admin and Communications Officer (originally a target for
2021122). Because of this successful appointment, it was
not deemed necessary to look for a new Trustee wrth
expertise in PR and marketing.

The management of the charity is tha responsibility of
the trustees, who are elected under the terms of the
goveming document of the organisation. The new
Board of Trustees is elected at Hodan AGMS by seNice
users. All registered members have the right to stand
for election as trustees (members of the management
committee). The managemenl committ8e may in
addition appoint not more than three CO￿pted members
but so that no one may be appointed as a COwOPted
member if. as a result more than one third of the
m8mbers of the management committee would be co-
Opled. The management committee must consist of no

Hodan has a rfsk management policy that Is reviewed
and updated on an annual basis. The risk
management policy has been revised to lake into
consideration the additional public h8alth risks from
COVID-19. We have also updated our safeguarding
policy to include measures for safeguarding 'cuslomers
in vulnerable circumstances,, according to the FCA
definitron.

year, which covers compliance with organisational and
fundar objectives, cli8nt satisfaction, accuracy and
appropriateness of advice, a review of training and
development. support and supervision, service

Induslon {ED&I). We also hold focus groups and
interviews to obtain rich qualitative data on spècific
projects. All is fed into our Strategie Plan, whlch is
