Governing document
The charity is controlled by ils goveining documenl, a deed of trust, and constitutes a limited
company, limited by guaranlee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006.
The company was incorporated on 12th August 2008, and registered as a GhaTity on 5th February
2013.
Recrultmont and appolntment of new trustees
The Directors of the company are it$ Twstees for the purposes of Company Law and are subject to
appointment. and retirement, under the rules set out in the Articles of Association. In the event of the
company being wound up membets are required to conlnbule an amount not exceeding £1.
No Director shall be liable to retire by rotation.
The Directors may from time to time increase or decrease the numbers of Directors.

The board of Trustees is responsible for the overall management and control of the activities of the
charity and meets approximately every month, and as required il additional meetings are necessary.

The Trustees are responsible for the management of the risks faced by the charity and have revlewad
the major nsks, and measures for mitigation, ag part of a continual process. They are satisfied that the
process adopted ig adequale lo identify and mitigale any impact which such risks mighl have on the
charity or ils activlties in Ihe future.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The principal objectives and activities of the charity are to act as an arts organisation to use the arts lo
build stronger communities and inspire a healthier society in the 8radford area.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
The charity usually runs three key evenl$ each year.. Saliaire Arts Trail, 2 Maker8 fairs and the Llvlng
Advent Calendar.

Saltaire Arts Trall- Opén vlllag•
The Open Village. a villagevwde mulipvenue exhibition at the Saltaire Arts Trail, took place from
Saturday 4th May 2024 - Monday 6th May 2024. The Open Village took place across 17 locations,
including a narrowboat on the Leeds- Liverpool canal.
24 exhibitors who took part in the Open Village were selected by an independent selection panel, 9
exhibitors put themselves forward as resident artists, 4 exhibitors were invited to exhibit by
hostslresident artists. 11 resident hosts donated Iheir spaces including wndows, homes, studios and
gardens. Local Small buslnesses vtho also hosted reported experiencing increased sales lor the event
weekend.
Saltalre Arts Trall- Make It Bradford
Make It Bradford was a new, one day rnakers market that took place on Salurday 4th May 2024. Due
to the lack of availability of Vidoria Hall on the first day of the Banlf Holiday weekend, the team
developed a new one-day Creative market in a new venue, the Salt Buildin9, a development of our
partnership with Shipley College. The market was free for visitors lo enler and the selection criteria for
exhibitors allowed lor a wider range ol art forms. This featured 21 makers from across the District.
The market was given a dislincl brand and received a positive response from exhibitors and visllors
alike, wlth 1,226 visltors.
Saltalre Arts Trall - Makers Falr
The Saltaire Makers Fair, a contemporary craft and design makers market, look place from Saturday
4th to Monday 6th May 2024, across 3 rooms and oveT 2 Iloors at regular venue Victona Hall, Victoria
Road. This event took place as a part of the wider Saltsire Arts Trail programme. including Ihe Open
Village Trail, specially commissioned exhibitions, bookable workshops and family activities.
15 students from the Shipley Conege Art & Design course were given the opportunity to lake part In
this year's event, under Ihe In The Making programme. They We￿ provided with 3 standard pitches
lat a reduced fee to the college) within the Makers Fair. In advance of the evenl, Makers Fair
Coordinator Samanth8 Pickard visited the sludenl at the college for a CPD session, giving advice on
showing and Selling al a craft fair and one-onwone critique sessions.
Exhibitors were selected through an open-call opportunity. and were selected by an independenl
panel of 3 induslry professionals. 63 applicants were selected through the selection process. 7 of
these exhibitors were invited to deliver artist demonstralions over the weekend, in glass and mixed
media. cerami¢s. jewellery. ernbroidery, weaving and printing and free creative activities led by
Shipley College students for children.
Special exhibitions and events
The People Powored Press, Salts Mill Roof Spac• The Shipley-based People Powered Press
presented a collection ol murals CO•crealed with community groups from across Bradlord as part of
our ongoing partnership. Inspired by poetry created by participants and hand.printed on the largest
letterpress printing press of its kind in the world, they represented the Press, aim to amplify local
voices and spread words worth spreading. Free workshops and play activib'es were held across the
weekend.

A Cloth for the Lost Mills by Hannah Lamb & Hannah Robson, Salts Mill Roof Space A new
partnership with 509 Art5, SUPPOrted by Bradford School of Art. This large-scale woven and printed
clolh was made in 8radford and inspired by visits lo losi textile mills. Drawing on a deep respect for
the skill. experience and dexterous hands of textile workers. the cloth combined mots'fs from mill
buildings and archive imagery.
Layering Cultures by Alison Welsh, Salts Mill Roof Space A new partnership with 509 Atts. A
multi-layered textile athork based on the accounts of Bradford millworkers. including the voices of
migrant workers. Layering Cultures focused on the clothing worn in the mills from the 1970s onwards,
referencing photographs of millworkers. bringing together a mix of cultures through per50nal
memories and life experiences. examining and ernbodying social aspects of 8radford's Induslrial
legacy.
UNSPUN by Th• Colour Foundry, Salts Mill Roof Space A new partnership with $09 Arts. An audio
visual response lo the vibranl heritage of Bradford Mills and their gradual decline. Utilising archive
footage, found audio. repurposed contenl and nevly commlssloned elements, The Colour Foundry
wove together a rich and immersive exhibition environrnent, bolstered by music featuring acoustic
Instrumentation and spoken word recordings.
Nurture, Kath Libbert Jewellery Gallery, Salts Mlll A new collection of de51gns exploring the theme
of love and nurture wth handcrafted colSeclions by talented jewellery artists from across the counlry,
including workshops wth jeweller Becca Macdonald.
Tales from the Loom by Chrlssie Freeth, Saltalr• Unlted Refomi Chur¢h Chrissle Freeth's work
reflects the historic role of the loom as a vehicle lor political and religiou$ propaganda but transforms
small personal moments into lar9e-scale handwoven, contemporary tapestries. She works on
traditional upright loom in her Sallaire workroom, taking up lo 2,000 hours to weave a single lapeslry,
usin9 a cotton warp and woollen weft she han&dyes hèrsell.

Church Gardens Students from the Foundation Degree Textiles Practice asked how do we connect
to Sallaire through culture, heritage and landscape? Students led free texlile and rope making
activibes throughout the weekend.

colloqulalisms. Presented across eye-catching banners, phrases collected from across Bradford were
brought lo life in a series of paintings and prints.
Craft for Climaie by Saltaire Wl and Little Craft Hou58. Vlctoria Hall, Saltsire A large-scale
impactful textile art installation almosl 3.5 million sts'tches were knitted into a display that ¢harted
Yorkshire's changing climate from 1853 to 2023. Over 200 volunteers contributed to this pie¢e that
Inspires and empowers us all to take dimale action.
Saltaire Art Gallery launched a new exhibitron of fine art and painting by Bradlord artists.
Saltalra Art Group• Saltaire M6thodlst Church An exhibits'on by SaltaiTe's popular local art group
with over 100 paintings. drawings and collages.

Various free workshops were held throughout the village during the Saltaire Arts Trail. As part of the
Connecllons., People & Place exhibition, students from 8radford School of Art ran drop-in textiles
aclivitses Ihroughovl the weekend. Our partners al The People Powered Press Pop-lip letterpres5 ran
printing workshops, where visitors could hand-make their own prints to lake away as part of their
exhibition in Salts Mill. Students from Shipley college designed and delivered over days in Victoria
Hall Gardens. Saltaire founder Sir Titus Sall had taken up temporary residence in the communty
kiosk and members of the public were inviled to grab a selfie with him and share these on social
medial Local jewellery artist, Becca Macdonald delivered silver clay workshops al the Kath Libbert
Jewellery Gallery in Salts Mill as well as Collaged Cards, a workshop about the history of Poesy rings.

Saltslre Maker Falr October 2024
The Saltaire Makers Fair, 3 conlemporary cr8ft and design makers market. took place from Saturday
26th lo Sunday 271h October 2024, across 3 rooms and on 2 floors al regular venue Victoria Hall,
Victoria Road. This is only the second winter fair that Sallaire Inspired have held, the first was in
November 2018. This was the largest standalone Sallaire Makers Fair loulside of Saltaire Arts Trail)
yel. as the September events are usually only 2 rooms - an exlra 3rd room was added to our booking
after the high number of applications received.
Exhibitors were selected through an open-call opportunity hosted on Curatorspace.com, and were
selected by an independent panel of 2 industry professionals (Sarah Bums - Kath Libbert Jewellery
gallery owner and lan Clarkson - wood turner). A total of 148 applicatsons were received - this is the
highest number of applications we have received for any Makers Fair event (since records began in
2015). 8 exhibitors delivered artist demonstrations over Ihe weekend. these included.. Weaving,
Jewellery making, Clay sculpting, Embroidery, Pottery and GIngerb￿ad decoration.
Saltalre Llvlng Advent Calendar D•cember 2024
The Sallaire Living Advent Calendar returned lor 2024 where 52 wndows were opened throughout
December. Locations included 42 houses, 3 local businesses and 7 community, education or faith
settings.. Sallaire Primary School.. Shipley College,. Hirshvood Nursery., Sallaire Art GTOUP at Saltaire
Methodist Chur¢h,' SaltaiTe United Refomi Church; Veg on the Edge; The Phone Box at Wash House
Garden.
Al our annual Window Makers Meel-up, 25 window makers came together for a free social event at
Sall Woths aimed at helping new makers learn how to make their first b*indow.
Rydals Museum, Sweden continues lo be our European exchange partner for the 6th year. Members
of the local community al the Winter Makers Fair created the wndow Ihal we sent to Rydals in
Sweden. We also hosted a wndow from Rydals Museum. this year Created by Siuharadsform.
collaborative group of artisans from Weslem Sweden. Thelr creation represented a starry sky as a
common platform for peace and friendship.
The village guide which we produce and give away for free was incredibly popular again, with 4000
leaflets being hand delivered Ihrough the village, schools and other outlets in the village and across
the Bradford district.

The charity 15 limited by share capital, incorporated in the United Kingdom.
These financial statements were authorised for issue by the trustees on 24 September 2025.
2 Accounting policies
Summary of slgnificont accountlng policies and koy accounting egtimates
The principal accounting policies applied in the preparation of these financial slatements are sel out
below. These policies have been consistently applied to all the years presented, unless otherwise
stated.
Statement ol compliance
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by
Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice (applicable to charities preparing their accounts in
accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland {FRS
10211 (issued in October 20191 Icharilies SORP IFRS 10211, the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 and the Companies Act 2006.
Basls of preparation
Saltaire Inspired Limited meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and
liabilities are inits'ally recognised al historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise Stated in the
relevant accounbng policy notes.
Going concern
The trustees consider that there are no material uncertainlie5 about the charity's ability lo continue as
going concern nor any significant areas of uncertainty that affect the carrying value of assets held by
the chaTIty.
Transition to FRS 102
In preparing the accounts, the Irustees have considered whether in applying the accounting policies
required by FRS 102 and the Charities SORP FRS 102 a restatement of comparative items was
required. No restatements are required as a result of the transition to FRS 102.
Income and endowmenl8
All income is recognised once the charity has entitlement to the income, it is probable that the income
will be received and the amount of the income receivable can be measured reliably.

Donatlons and legacles
Donations are recognised when the charity has been notiffied in writing of both the amount and
settlement date. In the event that a donation is subject lo condilions that require a level of
performance by the charity before the charity is enlitled to the funds, the income is deferred and nol
recognised until either those conditions are fully met, OT the fulfilment of those conditions is wholly
within the control of the charrty and it is probable thal these conditions will be fulfilled in the reporting
period.
Legacy gifts are recognised on a case by case basis following the grant of probate when the
administratorlexecutor for the eslale has communicated in vniling both the amount and settlement
date. In the event that the gift is the form of an asset other than cash or a financial asset traded on
a recognised stock exchange, recognition is subject lo the value of the gift being reliably measurable
wllh a degree of reasonable accuracy and the Iltle to the asset having been transferred io the charlly.
Giftj in kind
Gifts in kind are recogn15ed in different vRys dependent on how they are used by the charity..
(i} Those donated for resale produce income ￿en they are sold. They are valued al the amount
actually realised.
{ii) Those donated for onward transmission to beneficiaries are Induded in the Slalement of Financial
Activities as incoming resources and re50ur¢es expended when they are distributed. They are valued
al the amount the charity would have had to pay to acquire them.

amount the chanty would have had to pay lo acquire them.
Donaled servic•$ and facilltles
Where services or facilities are provided to the charity as a donation that would nomially be
purchased from our suppliers, this benefit 18 included in the financial statemenls at it's fair value
unless it's fair value cannot be reliably measured, then at Ihe cost to the donor or ihe resale value of
goods that are to be sold.
Expendltur•
All expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or construclive obligation lo Ihal expenditure, it is
probable setllement is required and ihe amount can be measured reliably. All costs are allocated to
the applicable expenditure heading that aggregate similar costs to that category. Where costs cannot
be direcuy attributed lo partlcvlar headings they have been allocated on a basi5 consistent with the
use of resource$, with central staff costs allocated on the basis of time spent, and depreciation
charges allocated on Ihe portion ol ihe asset's use. Other support COStS are allocated based on the
spread of staff costs.
Raising lunds
These are c0515 incurred in attracting voluntary income, the management of investments and Ihose
Incurred in trading act6Vities that raise funds.
Support costs
Support cos15 include central functions and have been allocated to activlty cost categories on a basis
consistent with the use ol resources. for example, allocating propety costs by floor afeas, or per
capila, staff costs by the time spent and other costs by their usage.

These include the costs attributable to the charity's compliance with constitutional and statutory
requirements, induding audit, strategic management and trustees meetings and reimbursed
expenses.
Taxation
The charity is considered to pass the tests set out in Paragraph 1 Schedule 6 of the Finance Act 2010
and therefore it meets the definition of a charitable company for UK corporation tax purposes.
Accordingly. the charity is potentially exempt from 18xation in respect of income or capital gain$
received within categories covered by Chapter 3 Part 11 01 the Corporation Tax Act 2010 or Section
256 of the Taxation ol Chargeable Gains Act 1992, to the extent that such income or gains are
applied exclusively lo charitable purposes.
Cash and cash equivalents
Cash and cash equivalents oompnse cash on hand and call deposits, and other short-term hlghly
liquid investments that are readily convertible to a known amount of cash and are Subject to an
insignificant risk of change in value.
