The Triorca Trust
Trustees’ Annual Report (1 April 2023 — 31 March 2024)
Each year the Triorca International Youth Orchestra provides the opportunity for gifted musicians aged 16 — 26 from 3 European countries to perform together on a week-long residential course in the late summer, and receive tuition from recognised international tutors and performers as well as providing the chance for the development of international understanding between the young people involved. The Triorca Trust supports the orchestra’s objectives, and this includes financial assistance to the orchestra and to individual students in need and/or from deprived areas.
A large number of end-of-course concerts from previous years are loaded up on YouTube and demonstrate the high level of musicianship achieved.
In June 2020, a planned orchestral trip to Budapest in Hungary was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Almost all donors kindly agreed to allow the Triorca Trust to retain funds they had donated for that project.
The Triorca Trust remained dormant until September 2023. No money was paid into or out of the bank account during this time apart from one refunded donor.
In September 2023 the Trustees appointed a Director, Andrew Weeks. He signed a formal contract for services and payment was agreed for a monthly retainer for 12 months. All due processes for safeguarding were followed.
The dates of the orchestral course were set for 26" August to 1° September 2024.
A new website was established and advertising brochures printed. The course was marketed on social media. Students paid deposits to secure a place in the orchestra. Individuals in financial need were identified by the Director anda reduced course fee was agreed, or waived altogether. Triorca paid a deposit to book accommodation on the University of East Anglia campus.
The Triorca Trust is established by a Trust Deed and the elected trustees are:
