| Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit) |
The relief of sickness and promotion of the health of children suffering with brain tumours, particularly Posterior Fossa Syndrome ( PFS); in particular but not exclusively, by 1. Promoting public awareness of the signs and symptoms of brain tumours in children and young people, 2, Providing funding for the development of research into practical applications for the prevention, treatment and cure of children’s brain cancer. 3, the provision of play equipment and gifts where appropriate for children who are required to spend time in an oncology ward. |
|---|---|
| The Danny Green Fund provides therapies such as physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, speech therapy, swimming sessions or horse riding therapies to assist rehabilitation of children suffering from disabilities as the result of Posterior Fossa Syndrome. PFS is a possible complication that can be seen in up to 25% of children following brain tumour surgery to the back of the skull. This year The Danny Green Fund has increased its provision of equipment to help recovery from this devastating syndrome, helping the children we support to regain some of the independence lost since their diagnosis. Since Covid restrictions have been eased this year many of the children we support have returned to face to face therapy sessions although we are still providing online sessions for our most vulnerable children and teenagers. The charity also raises funds to increase brain tumour awareness & funding for brain tumour research. Unfortunately, we were unable to provide Christmas gifts for children staying on the various wards at Great Ormond Street Hospital this year due to lockdown restrictions. However, we were able to provide Christmas gifts for children staying in our our local hospital just before lockdown came into force. The trustees of The Danny Green Fund have fully complied with their duty to have due regard to the charity commission public benefit guidance when making decisions in respect to main activities undertaken by the charity. We have received numerous messages of thanks from families whose children are suffering from PFS for the support and advice given both personally, through our Facebook page and through our web site. |

Section D Achievements and performance
The Danny Green Fund has continued to provide support for children Summary of the main achievements of the charity suffering from Posterior Fossa Syndrome as the result of a brain tumour during the year throughout the UK. We expect the increase in referrals received in 2021 to continue into 2022.
The charity has seen very positive results from the therapies that we have provided this year although they have been subject to change and reduced availability due to the continuation of Covid restrictions. The children taking part have continued to show increased balance, core strength and mobility which will ultimately help them to achieve their goals of becoming more independent and walking unaided once again. We aim to continue these therapies going forward.
The Posterior Fossa Syndrome parents support group on Facebook continues to be a great success in offering help and support for parents with children suffering from PFS in the UK and from around the world.
We have created an increased awareness of the signs and symptoms of a brain tumour through our fundraising and our social media, highlighting the need for safer less toxic treatments and to ultimately find a cure for this devastating disease. The charity has once again sponsored days of dedicated brain tumour research at Queen Mary University of London Brain Tumour Research Centre to hopefully help find a cure. The charity has continued to receive revenue and created increased awareness through individual fundraising, through just giving, virgin giving, Paypal and through our Social Media sites, which we hope will continue in 2022.
This year has seen a decrease in the number of donations made to the charity along with reduced fundraising opportunities for the charity due to COVID restrictions. We hope that 2022 will see an increase in the opportunity to fundraise.
