Summary of the main
activities undertaken for the
public benefit in relation to
these objects (include within
this section the statutory
declaration that trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit)
The Danny Green Fund provides therapies such as physiotherapy,
hydrotherapy, speech therapy, swimming sessions or horse riding
therapies to assist rehabilitation of children suffering from disabilities as
the result of Posterior Fossa Syndrome. PFS is a possible complication
that can be seen in up to 25% of children following brain tumour surgery
to the back of the skull.
Due to the increase in new referrals received we are continuing to work
with an increased number of health professionals to provide the vital
therapies necessary to aid recovery from PFS.
Due to COVID regulations this year and lockdown restrictions the charity
has evolved to fund home physiotherapy programmes along with funding
zoom and other online therapy sessions to promote the welfare of the
children we support along with the welfare of the therapists that work with
the charity. We have actively encouraged video sessions to aid the
mental welfare of the children we support during these challenging times.
In addition to this The Danny Green Fund are able to provide a piece of
equipment to aid recovery from PFS.
The charity also raises funds to increase brain tumour awareness &
funding for brain tumour research. We continue to provide gifts for
children staying on the various wards at Great Ormond Street Hospital
and our local hospitals at Christmas & provide play equipment for
children in our local hospitals during the year.
The trustees of The Danny Green Fund have fully complied with their
duty to have due regard to the charity commission public benefit
guidance when making decisions in respect to main activities undertaken
by the charity.
We have received numerous messages of thanks from families whose
children are suffering from PFS for the support and advice given both
personally, through our Facebook page and through our web site.

2020 has been a difficult year for the charity due to COVID restrictions but we are very grateful to the volunteers who have continued to promote and fundraise for the charity in accordance with the government policies on social distancing and relevant lockdown rules.

Section D Achievements and performance

Section D Achievements andperformance
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity
during the year
The Danny Green Fund has continued to provide support for children
suffering from Posterior Fossa Syndrome as the result of a brain tumour
throughout the UK. We expect the increase in referrals received in 2020
to continue into 2021.
Due to COVID regulations this year and lockdown restrictions the charity
has evolved to fund home physiotherapy programmes along with funding
zoom and other online therapy sessions to promote the welfare of the
children we support along with the welfare of the therapists that work with
the charity. We have actively encouraged video sessions to aid the
mental welfare of the children we have supported during these
challenging times.
The charity has seen very positive results from the therapies that we
have provided this year although they have been subject to change and
reduced availability. The children taking part have continued to show
increased balance, core strength and mobility which will ultimately help
them to achieve their goals of becoming more independent and waking
unaided once again. We aim to continue these therapies going forward.
The Posterior Fossa Syndrome parents support group on Facebook
continues to be a great success in offering help and support for parents
with children suffering from PFS in the UK and from around the world.
The charity has also provided play equipment and books to local
hospitals to keep the children entertained during their stay in hospital.
The donation of Christmas gifts to children in Great Ormond Street
Hospital and local hospitals – Southend Hospital, Basildon Hospital, Little
Havens and Broomfield Hospital - was another great success with over
1000 gifts being delivered.
We have created an increased awareness of the signs and symptoms of
a brain tumour through our fundraising and our social media, highlighting
the need for safer less toxic treatments and to ultimately find a cure for
this devastating disease. The charity has once again sponsored days of
dedicated brain tumour research at Portsmouth University to hopefully
help find a cure.
We have received lots of local support via fund raising events and
donations which we hope will continue in 2021. The charity has continued
to receive revenue and created increased awareness through individual
fundraising, through just giving, virgin giving, Paypal and through our
Social Media sites.
This year has seen a decrease in the number of donations made to the
charity along with reduced fundraising opportunities for the charity due to
COVID restrictions but the money raised last year as part of Danny’s 18th
birthday celebrations has ensured that the charity was able to continue to
achieve its charitable aims. We hope that 2021 will see an increase in the
opportunity to fundraise.
