St Leonards Baptist Church Annual report 2021.

2021 was another year severely impacted by Covid restrictions. We started the year still using pre-recorded services each week and meeting for a zoom coffee time at mid-day on a Sunday so that those able to join could have some fellowship time together.

We were able to start worshipping in the church at Easter but singing was still not allowed and refreshments not served so our services had a very different feel to them until restrictions lifted later in the year.

In May we were able to restart our Wednesday Bible study group although speaking wearing masks and sitting apart made it more challenging than previously.

We also joined in with the service provided live from the Baptist Assembly in May, streaming it successfully in the church and being part of a very large gathering of thousands of churches and homes.

In June we were sad to lose Barbara, one of our longest serving members .

In July we began holding joint evening meetings with Wellington Square Baptist church twice a month, once in our premises and once in ours. This has been an encouragement to both congregations throughout the year.

We also held a 6 week Bereavement course on Wednesday afternoons in place of our Bile Study group. This was well received by those who attended.

Our church anniversary was celebrated over the first weekend in November with a games afternoon on the Saturday and a service on Sunday where Stuart, our regional minister preached.

By the end of the year our worship services were back to a prepandemic feel and we were able to hold a morning carol service before Christmas and a short service on Christmas day .
