more farnilies Ihan before accessing our services and support. Cost-of-living ¢￿tInueS lo threctly affècl neonatal
families in the North-East and north Cumbria.
This year. Tiny Lives ate proud to have supt*)rted the Deonatal unit wrth a hjll refurbishment of the neonatal unit, lo
improve the overall almosphete and comfort ft>r families as they spend weeks ￿ months cm the unit wrth their baby,
providing a more nurtunng enviroMienL

During this year. we have supported over 730 families wth babies on the neonatal unit. and over 140 families wilh a
variety of support activities posl-discharge from the untt.
We have delivered a range of services for families once discharged home and trialled new groups including
swimming classes and messy play groups as well as Irialled existing groups In new afeas lo reach more families
where they are.
The charity made a signfficant investmenl this year to lund the refurbishment of the neonatal unit. The dinical space
has been transformed Inlo a more nurturing and comforting area, desy)ed to enhance the overall well-being and
comfort of families with their premature or new-b(yn baby.

The charily has realised a financbal deficit this year. This was a planned deficit by the Truslees of finy Lives ulilising

performance. whi¢h has meant we have also been able to expand our servic£s arKI support for families.
We have seen a rJJnlinued in¢rease in communty corpyatè fundraisbng. Tiny Lives is very grateful to everyone

charity. This policy stipulates ihat ihe charity will maintain unreslncted reseNes equivalent lo al leasi six months,
operating cosls. which Cufrenlty amounts lo £210.525. The chaity held unrestricted free fe5eNes of £546.149 at 31
Mafch 2024. then laking into accL)unl known lactors. induding designated funds, fixed assets, and conlractual
obligations, the balaneA of reserves is £282,223.
The reserves, designated funds and contracted commrtments are revwied ￿nualty in conjunction with Ihe
budgeting process, and adiustmenls are made as needed lo refiect changes in the charity's actiwties. funding

In 202412025. Tiny Lives will launth our new slralegy. Tiry Lives hearuand is in the North East. supporting families
fmm a¢rcJSS the North East and north Cumbria. Changes in maternrty serV￿eS and the needs of families who
experience neonatal care has changed in the 10 years ￿nce the tharity became independenl. Our new slrale9y will
sel oul how we aim lo meet those needs over the next 5 years.
2024r2025 will see Ihe charity continue lo develop and deepen our support for families who spend lime on the
Newcastle Neonalal Se￿ICe HI the RVI. Alongside this, we will explore opportunitses to strengthen support for
families across the famity health palhway. including letsl medrjne and transitional care.
We wlll scope support for neonalal familiès ètross the gewaphy ol Ihe Northem Neonatal NetsNo￿, and eslabh'sh
opportunities lo work in collaborat￿n with others to provKle appiopnate supporl where it is less readily available. We
will also begin to explore opportunities to engage wrth families who are under-represented wilhin our seNices.
