Summary of significant accounting pollcles and key accounting estimates
The principal accounting policies applled in the preparation of these financial statements are set out
below. These policies have been consistently applied lo all the years presented. unless otherwise
staled.
Statement of cornpllance
The financial statemen15 have been prepared in accordance with Accounting 8nd Reporting by
Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice (applicable to charities preparing their account5 in
accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard appllcable in the UK and Republlc of Ireland IFRS
10211 (issued in October 20191- (Charities SORP IFRS 10211, the Flnancial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 and the Companies Act 2006.
Basis of preparation
Snapdragons Pre School meets the definS1ion of a public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and
liabilities are initially recognised at hislorlcal cost or iransaction value unless othe￿iSe slated in the
relevant accounting policy notes. The financial statements are prepared in sterling which is the
functional currency of the enthy.
Going concern
The Irusl88s consider that there are no materfal uncertainties about the charltws ability lo contlnue as
a going concern nor any significant areas of uncertalnty that affect the Carr￿ng value of assets held by
the charity-
Exemption from preparlng a cash flow statement
The charity opted to adopt Bulletin 1 published on 2 February 2016 and have therefore not included a
cash flow statement in these financial 5ts1ements.
Income and endowments
All Income is recognised once the charity has entitlement lo the income, it Is probable that the income
will b8 received and the amount of the Income reGolvable can be measured reliably.

Investment incomg
Dividends are recognised once the dividend has been declared and notificatlon has been re￿fved of
the dividersd due.
Expenditure
All expendiliire is recognised once there Is a legal or constructive obligati(Jn to that expenditure. il is
probable selllemenl is required and the amount can be measured reliably. All costs are allocated to
the applicable expenditvre headlng that aggregate slmilar costs to that category. Where costs cannot
be directly allribuled lo particular headlngs they have been allocated on a basis conslstent with the
use of resources, with central sl8ff costs allocated on the basls of lime spent, and depreryation
charges 8llocaled on the portion of the asset's use. Other support costs are allocated based on the
spread of stsff costs.
Charltable activities
Charitsble expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the charity in the delivery of its activities
and setvices for fts beneficiarie5. It Includes both costs that can be allocated directly lo such activities
and those costs of an indirect nature necessary lo support them.
Support costs
Support costs include central functions and have been allocaled lo activity cost categories on a basls
conslstent with the use of resources, for example, allocating property costs by floor afftas, or per
capila. staff costs by the lime spent and other costs by their usage.
Government grant5
Government grants are recognised based on the accwal model and are measurgd at the falr value of
the ass81 received or recgivable. Grants are classified as relating either lo revenue or to assets.
Grants rel8ling to revenue are recognised in income over the period in whlch the ralated costs a
recognised. Grants rel81ing to assets are recognised over the expected useful life of the asset. Where
part of a grant relating to an asset is defer￿d, it is recognised as deferred income.
Taxation
The charity is considered to pass the testg set out in Paragraph 1 Schedule 6 of the Finance Act 2010
and the￿fOre it meets the definition of a charitable company for UK corporation tsx purposes.
Accordingly, the charity is potentially exempl from taxation in respect of income or capital gains
received withln categories covered by Chapter 3 Part 11 of the Corporation Tax Ad 2010 or Section
256 of the Taxation of Chargeable Gains Act 1992. to the extent that such income or gains are
applied exclusively to charitable purposes.
Tangible fixed assets
Indivldual fixed assets are initially recorded al cost, 16ss any subsequent accumulated depreciation
and subsequent accumulated impairment losses.
Depreclation and amortlsatlon

Cash and cash equivalents
Cash and cash equivalents comprise cash on hand and call deposits, and other short-tem highly
liquid investments that are readily convettble lo a known amount of cash and are sublect to an
insignificant risk of change in value.
Borrowings
Inleresl-bearing borrowings are Initially recorded at l2Sr value, nel of Ir3nsaction costs.
Inlerest-bearing borrowings are subsequently carried at amortlsed cost. with the difference bebNeen
the proce8ds, nel of transaction costs, and the amount due on redemption being re¢ognise(5 as a
charge to the Statement of Financial Activitles over the period of the relevant borrowing.
Interest expense is recognised on the basls of the effective interest method and is Included in interest
payable and simll8r charges.
Borrowings are dassified as current liabilities unless the charity has an uncondltional right to defer
settlement of the158bility for al least tsvelve months after the reportlng date.
Fund structure
Unrestricted income funds are general funds that are avai18blÈ for use at the trustees discretion in
furtherance of the objectives of the charity.
Financial instruments
Classllicotion
Financial assets and financial liabillties are recognised when Ihe charity becomes a party to the
contractual provisions of the instrument.
Flnancial liabllities and equty instruments are classified accordlng to the substance of the contractual
arrangements entered into. An equity Instrument is any contract that evidences a residual Interest In
the assets of the charity after deducting all of ils liabilities.
