The rnain objectives of the charity are to advance the Christian faith in accordance with the staternent of beI￿lS in the North East of
England or other areas a5 the Tru5tee5 think fit.
The main activity of the charity is the provision of religious education and ministry.
In planning the activities of the charity. the trustees have considere(I the Charity Cornmission'5 guidance on public benefit and, in
particular. the specific guidance on charities for the advancemeni of religion.
The charitV'5 activitie5 01 advancement of the Christian faith through education and ministry are available to the people in the North
East of England and wider area to make a posltive contribution to the local and wider community.

Taking Ground 15 a family of seven churche5 across the North East of England and Yorkshire - Hexham Commursity Church, Birtley
Community Church, Ourham Community Church, Mid(Ile5brough Community Church. Tees Valley Community Church, Easingwold
Community Church and Collective Church York.
The Taking Ground family has provided 5UPPOrt to the actbvlties in any of the individual churches within the Takin8 Ground family.
Specifically. T3king Grgund has provided boih financial support and practical advice to the activities of the School of Applied Theologv
(SATI and Taking Ground Mu5K.
S¢hotsl of Applied Theology ISAT)- Taking Ground has conttnued to run SAT during the year providing biblical training and thinking for
today's world. SAT had over fifty students, with a diverse ran8e of ages from seventeen to over seventv-vear-olds.
Taking Ground Music- This is a group of singers and musician5 frorn within the church families of Taking Ground, with a vision to see
people's lives changed and impacted by music as an expression of worship. During the year Taking Ground Music recorded and
released new music.
Taking Ground Academy ITGAI is a 12-month internship to equip chvrch leaders in ministry, theology and leadership skills. The Charity
launched TGA over the lasi 12 months. and the charity has seen the first cohort of siudents trained and equipped in leadership arbd
theology.

Financial Summa
The overall income for the year was £117.809 compared to £107.988 in the previous year.
The overall expenditure for the year was £115.830 compared to £153.742 in ihe previous year. This reduttion was because the
previou5 year's ligure included the irènsfer of £37.199 to York Collective Church who had set up their own bank account.
The net position for the year was a surplus of £1.979 compared to a defKit of £45.754 in the previous year.

The Trustees have a duty to identify and review the risks which the Charity is exposed to. To enable the Trustees to rnanagt risk5 we
have systems of internal contfd to protect and mitlgate against any reasonably foreseeable risk.

We regularly review the main risks faced by the Charty 3nd the main risks that have been identified are finance, sale8uardinB, heolth
and safely. buildlng maintenance and security-
We also use a variety of people from either within our partner TVCC or external third parties to provide advice and Euidan¢e on the
relevant areas of risk. We use people with expertise in the different areas of risk to provide specialist and expert advice.
We believe that the internal financial controls compty wth the relevant Charity Commission guidance.

The Trustees have set a reserves policy which requires maintaining free uniestritted cash balances in the general lund amountin8 to
3 rnonths of its annual expenditvre. Basefl on 2024125 level of expentliture ieserves should be a minimum of £28.957 and at the end
of the financial year they were £58.320. At the end of the previous financial year the balance of reserves was £56,341
Reserves should be maintatned at this level which ensures that the charitrfs Core artivity ¢ould ¢ontinye during a period of unforeseen
difficulty. The reserves should be maintained in an easily accessible fomi.
The calculation of the required level of reseryes is an inte8ral port of the or8ani5ation's annual plannin8, budget and forecast cycle.
Ittakes into account ri5k5 associated with each Stream of income and expenditure being different from that budgeted, planned activity
level, the chariws cornmitrnents 10 Its stakeholders. fvture spending plans antl expetted liabilities and anticipatèd building Costs. It
also reflects as far as possible the current economic climate and trends.
In addition, the Trustee5 are 31$9 in the proce55 of starting 2 church plants which might involve significant financial support. The charity
is also con5idÈr*ng employment of 2 or 3 members ol staff lor the thurth plants. the bible school and a150 an operation5 mana8er,
and for these reasons, the Trustees aim to increase free cash reseryes in line with the expected increased annual expenditure.
The reserves polity will be reviewed by the Trustees every 12 months.
Plans for future

Taking Ground is hoping to expand the training ataderny talled Taking Ground Academy over the next academic year with the
potential to employ someone to oversee it and to increase the number of student5. The purpose of the Taking Ground Academy
Continued to be to strengthen the ￿e￿Ork of churches by developing and iratning future leaders.
Taking Ground is cyrrently in the process of planting 2 new churches in Consett and Northallerton.

Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructNe obligation to make a payment to a third party, it t5 probable

h) Debtors
Trade and other debtors are recognised at the settlement amount5 due after any trade discount offered. Prepayments are

Cash at bank and cash in hand includes cash and short-term highly liquid investments with a Short maturity of three months
or le55 frorn the date of acquisition or opening of the deposit or sirnilar account.
11 Credltors and Provisions
Creditors and provisions are Tecognised where ihe Charity has a present obligation resulting from a past event that will
probably result in the transfer of funds to a third party and the amount due to settle the obligation can be measured or
estlmated reliably.
Cieditors and provisions are normally recognised at their settlement amount after allowing for any trade discounts due.

The charity has elected to apply the provisions of Settion 11 'Basic Financial Instruments. and Section 12 '0ther Financial
Instruments Issue5. of FRS 102 to all of its financial instruments.
The charity only has financial assets and financial liabilities of 3 kind thai qualify as basic financial instruments. Basic financial
instruments are initially re¢ognised at trartsaaion value and subsequently measured ar thetrr settlement value.

In the application of the charivs accounting polities. the trustees a￿ required to make judgements. estimates and
3S5UrnPtion5 about the carrying amount of assets and liabilities that are not readily apparent from other sources. The
estimates and assouated assumptions are based on historical experience and other factors that are considered to be
relevant.
The estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Rev45ion5 to accounting estimates are
recognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the revision affects only that pefiod. or in the period of the
revision and future period5 where the revision alfects both cuirenl and future periods.
The trustees do not believe there to be judgementsor t￿lmateS thatwould be considered tritical to the financial statements.
