The London Bangla Press Club was set up on the 15 Day of June 1993. The London Bangla Press Club was incorporated as a charity and its name was entered in the Charity Commission's Central Register on the 3rd of December 2012, The ObJectlve5 of the London Bangla Press Club are: The Charity's objects are for the benefit of the 8engali comthunity in particular people Involved in journalism, print. publishing or the media but not exclusively: To relieve poverty and distress to the public, in particular to people connected to.lournalism, publi5hlng media sector and allied trades and their dependent relatives who are in need, experiencing hardship or distress by reason of age, infirmity. disability or youth but not exclusively. The advancement of education and trainlng for the public benefit by the provision of vocational training courses and the development of teaching skllls in journallsm. information technology. publishing, medla studies and print, electronic and broadcastlng media produrtion. To promote the efficient and effective application of resource5 for charitable purposes by.the provision of advlce on all forms of communication media. Structure, Governance and Management The charity Is constituted by a constitution. It is governed by the regulatlon set out in the Constitution and run by a voluntary Executive Committee. The charlty's new committee members are elected at the Annual General Meeting every two year5. The Executive Commlttee members are normally briefed by the President and the General Secretary in order to famillarise themselve5 Wlth the rules, regulations and responsibilitie5 of the charity. The Management Committee met six time5 during the year to review the activities of the Charity including the approval of the annual report and accounts as well as budget5, capital expenditure and to set out the fund raislng date for the charitv. The day-to-day work of the charlty is overseen by the President who is responsible to and reports to the Management Committee. The Executive Committee is aware of the potential rlsks to the charity, both financial and otherwise. Therefore, strategies are in place to control these risks, Assessments have also beert taking relatin8 to fire and health and safety. The Executive Committee are seriously looklng into other rlsk areas such a5 operational, governance and compliance with law and regulation5. Page 2

AchlevemÈnts and Perforrnance of London Bangla Press Club: The Executive Committee is pleased to report a very active year. London Bangla Press Club is actively seeking to Protect its financial security in order to continue to safeguard the ongoing development of the Club and its projects and services that it offers to the local communities in the United Kingdom The London Bangla Press Club and its members are pleased with the Club's achievement5 over the last 12 months: Organised a number of events, workshop programmes to promote and highlight the work of the Bengali media in the United Kingdom. Facilitated a number of training programmes on introductory journalism courses, Strengthened the infrastructure of the organisation through policy development, development of a 3-year buslnes5 plan, putting policy and procedures Into place for the effectlve and efflcient running of the organisation. Using the media.to raise community issue5 afferting the Bangladeshl communlty in the UK in terms of welfare, education, health, achievements and successes. community cohesion and community integration. The Management Committee is indebted to all members and well" wlshers for their support to the London Bangla Press Club. The Executive Committee is very appreciative to the members for their financial support. We would.also extend a word of thanks to all individuals and other community groups/organisations, media agencies who have worked with and supported London Bangla Press Club. Financial Review The financial position of the Charity is portrayed in the accompanying Annual Accounts. Statement of frustees, Responsibllltles Law applicable to charities in England & Wales requires the Trustees to prepare financial statement for each financial year, which gives a true and fair view of the charit￿5 financial activities during the year and of its financial position at the end of the year. In preparing those financial statements, the trustèes are requlred to: lal Selert suitable accounting policies and apply consistently Ibl Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent,. Icl State whether.applitable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice have been followed, subjett to any departures disclosed and explained in the financial Statements,. Id) Prepare the financial statements on a going concern basis unless it Is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation. The Trustees are responsible for keeping accounting records, which discloses with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financlal statements comply with the charity act 1993. They are also responsible for safe8uarding the assets of the charity and hence tor taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other .irregularities. Pa8è 3

ReseNe Pollcy It Is the policy of the charity that unrestricted funds, whi¢h have.not been designated for a specific use, should be maintalned at a level equivalent to at least 12 months expenditure. The Executive Committee Consider that reseryes at this level will ensure that, In the event of a significant drop in funding, they will be able to continue the chariws current activities while tonslderation Is given to ways in which additional funds may be raised. The London Bangla Press Club wlll artively work to achleve this level of resetves. Current reserve fund consists of property value of £185,000 and other reserve of £33,800. Risk Fartor5 The Trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charlty is exposed and are sat15fied that systems are In place to mitigate exposure to the major risks. Independent Examlner According to the provisions of the Charities Act 1993, the Trustees agree that an audit Is not requlred for this financial year,. however due to the provisions of the same act an Independent Examiner is required. The Executive Committee agreed to re-appoint Mohammed Muhit Uddln M Com, AC& FCCA to carry out the Independent Examination of the accounts in 2024. INDEPENDET EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF LONDON BANGLA PRESS CLUB CHARITY REG: 1150004 FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2023 We have examined the financial statements on pages 6 to 8 which have been prepared on the basis of historic cost. Res ctive re5 onsibllities of trustees and examiner The charitws trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under sectlon 4312} of. the charities Act 19931 and that an Independent examination is needed. It Is our responsibility to.. * Examine the accounts * Follow the procedures laid down in the general dlrections given by the charity commisslon,. and State whether particular matters have come to our attention. Basis of Inde endent Examlnerfs statement Our examination was carried out in accordance wlth General Directlons given by the Charity Commlssion. An examinatlon includes a review of the accountlng records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consiéeration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently we do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
